Brick ranch built '59, need exterior look advice

I bought this house in June been doing inside stuff but need advice on exterior. Did photoshop mock up - see attached. My inclination is painting brick off-white and shutters painted black. What to do with trim, front door, landscaping? Any suggestions appreciated.

Remove the shutters. I am not a fan of painting brick, especially brick like yours which is attractive.

I would focus on the landscaping. Get rid of the pompom bushes. Extend the plantings from the side of the garage to line part of the drive, but add more variety. Plant an ornamental tree out in the yard to frame the entry. Plant a hardwood on the right side of the property.

Some plants I would look into are oak leaf and pee gee hydrangea, mountain laurel, red twig dogwood. I like ornamental trees like Eastern Redbud, crabapple, snowbell, Crepe Myrtle.

I agree with calidesign's suggestions. Some brick isn't so nice...yours is. Definitely no shutters, espcially on the left with double windows. If you don't want anything too dark, a pale gray could work with your roof and maybe the brick mortar (if it's gray).

    ETA - Just read houssaon's comments...also nice!

Thank you for your comments. I am pretty set on painting the brick. It's an ugly pinkish orange- red. This may not come through in the picture. There are many government structures built about the same time with the same brick in my town. Ordinary. To me, the shutterless windows don't go with the single shuttered window closest to street. But I am considering everything and much appreciate your input ....love the landscape advice. just wanted you to see my thinking on this. -M

Also. My house it probably the "youngest" house on my street. Most of the houses are wood, and built between 1900 and 1920, many have been remodeled. - M

I like the colors you're going with - don't forget to think of a good color to paint the door, to make it pop ;)

The window near the street will look fine without shutters if you have some landscaping plants with height and interest on those corners of the house. You need some different types of foliage.
