@SJ McCarthy @G & S Floor Service Hi There! I hope you are both well and staying healthy. I am reaching out this way because I wasn't able to figure out how to do a private message.

I asked a question about my floors month ago and you were both very helpful. Thank you! After staining the floors, the contractor covered them. On Thursday, the contractor/subcontractor uncovered and finished them. I don't know how many coats they applied, but this is supposed to be the finished product. The color is the what I expected except; however, I see white cloudiness/splotches in some areas that is bothering me. As experts, could you tell me if this is acceptable. I don't want to argue with my contractor, I'd like to finish this project and move on. What do you think of the pictures? Is the splotchiness acceptable/common with white was stains? I tried to get good pictures but cameras/monitors can be finicky.

It's hard to pick up, barley noticable. But looks like the sealer. It doesn't look bad in the photos. I would leave it.

I can 'see' what you are seeing, but G & S is probably right. It looks like it is the sealer. I would allow the FIRST coat to go down before you panic. The tinted sealers often have a weird look when raw. Once they finish drying up and the first coat of finish is put down, the 'weird look' goes away.

I hear what you are saying. I'm not down playing that at all. I would be cautiously optimistic (especially with G & S's statement). I would wait for first coat of finish. Then reassess.

I know. Another one of those 'wait and see' answers...but you are ALMOST there. Let the process happen. If something is terribly wrong, you will see it with the first/second coat.

It is hard to pick up in the photo. If, it is very noticable in person from a standing position 2 feet away. You can have them attempt a spot repair or refinish the entire floor. Based on your photos, I would leave it.

I appreciate your sharing excellent advice on floors. Do you know if the Provenza Affinity line has low VOCs and no added formaldehydes? I know it is made in China, but Provenza says it has their own plant in China. This is unlike their competitors that have their materials made in mass product facilities where they slap their name on the boxes it comes in.
