The white will not be the issue, a file cabinet in a dining room will be what makes it not work. I would #1 get curtain panels on all the windows, give the room some LIFE. #2 remove the stereo equipment. Put clock between the two windows. That would fill that wall. Large Mirror over the "side board" will reflect the outside--looks like a door opposite. Remove those blinds they do not work on a door.

If this is to function as office? There are better solutions. Measure the whole space, show the rest, including kitchen or sitting areas beyond. Files? Perhaps elsewhere??
