We just moved into a rental and the main floor has (1) a dining room with one full mirrored wall and a small built in shelf and cabinet with gold/bronze pulls; (2) a step-down living room with real fireplace.

I was only able to attach a few photos but maybe they are enough to give you a sense.

We would like to give a nod to the early-mid 1980s when it what built. It’s a blank slate and so anything goes as long as we follow the basic rental agreement which includes no painting, removal of lighting fixtures, and keeping the blinds. They are painting the walls and trim white before we move in.

What kind of furniture would you have and what would be your placement that references the 80s but incorporates current styles (mid-century modern and modern farm house are two styles, but we are open!).

Please note the living room is the only place we can have a TV.
