How did you transition from stained wood to painted wood floors?

I want to do this in my next home but it seems like it would be awkward. Did you use a marble threshold as you entered the master bedroom.

I use a flush marble threshold that matched the countertop and stops in the middle of the door so you see stone on one side and wood on the other when door is closed. Thx
