What kind of rug and curtains for my living room?

4 years ago

What kind of curtain/rug would go with with my couches and wall colour? I am looking to replace the curtain. The couches are dark grey.

    I would get a rug the wall color. Your curtains now are too skimpy. Make sure the new curtains measure 2 1/2 times the width of the window.

    Thank you. Yeah the curtains were left by the previous owner. We don't know exactly what colour the wall is because they left a paint that was a custom colour.

    What experimenting with color [even towel, clothing.. draped around] have you done? What style do you like? I like this one, and teal is easy to shop for.

    @everdebz. I haven't really had any experimenting but I love rustic/farmhouse/classic etc.

    Noticing your camel throw -- this versatile set of neutrals. Could add mercury glass lamp, shine here and there to 'brighten' the look.

    If you have same grommet curtains in white fabric, they could work in the middle of the blue ones, maybe with either rug I posted.

    @everdebz I didn't even mean for that to be a throw. I just use it as a blanket lol! I found a beautiful rug that has warm tones and some spots of cool since my couches are cool and warms are warm.

    Ok... delicate but I hope some shows if you have a coffee table over it. May I post what I just found - a sort of suzani pattern..

    Idea I saw - to place console behind sofa.

    You might want it on the empty wall, or you might have a desk there.

    @everdebz wow so many ideas thank you! I was thinking of putting a small dining table behind the couch but not sure yet. We don't have a dining area/room.

    .... how far is that area from kitchen? also, where is the front door?

    have you tried the tv, etc... in different locations... if dining could be where tv seems to be currently.

  • 4 years ago

    @everdebz The tv will be hung up above the fireplace. The living area is right next to our kitchen.

    @freedomplace1 I like the ideas! My couches are actually a dark grey. I just ordered this rug this morning. Hoping it works out! Next goal is to update the curtains.
