Show your end of summer/beginning of fall favorites!

Many of my favorite purchased plants as well as the ones found on the floor of big box stores are looking their best currently. I'm going to show them off here and I'd like to see how everyone else's collection is doing as many of us prepare for winter.

Here are two more of my current favorites. The first is Sedum adolphii 'Golden Glow' and I'm not sure what the second is. If anyone does, please let me know. I'm particularly happy with it because it has recovered from a slight case of rot earlier this summer

Those are looking really nice, how old are they now?

I finally remembered to get a good shot of a SOH flower recently and love how different they are. I also have a Pachyphytum little jewel that has recovered from crown rot or some other type of top dieback and is now pushing out new growth like crazy. And finally the variegated bears paw that I found on the nursery floor appears to have rooted and is slooowly pushing out some new paws.

These are 4 months? I potted up the leaves at the end of June. Its getting crowded in there now. Going to have to repot them. Some are shading out the others.

John, very niceplants, btw. Ive never seen a SOH bloom. Pretty!

And the great parade of beautiful plants with great color begins. I love this kind of thread. I shall go home a take a few pics too)

Rebecca, that seems like a lot of growth for just four months, but time slips by so fast I can barely keep track. I feel like it was April just a second ago and here we are. And thank you! The SOH were a rescue destined for the garbage bin at HD, but I chatted with the kid doing the restocking and he let me take it home. It's been the easiest plant to look after honestly and I couldn't believe it when it started to flower.

Here's a few more that I've gotten over the past week or two

    1. Graptopetalum rusbyi - the blue really stands out on the side that faces the shade, especially after the lower temps recently.

    2. A very full Graptosedum "Francesco Baldi" (?) looking good with the morning dew still hanging around.

    3. A little tray of props. One is a moonstone and that's all I know. I habitually pick up leaves off the floor of big box store nurseries so they could be anything.

Because I just can't help myself, I've got more photos to share.

    1. Pachyveria "Asante Sana" I think - if anyone has an idea, lmk.

    2. Echeveria "Silver Queen" I think

    3. Graptopetalum paraguayense - I love this plant. It was the saddest looking thing when I got it back in Jan-Feb at walmart. 99 cents and staked upright with an actual Bic pen. 🙄 (to be fair, I only replaced the pen with a kebab skewer when I got home. This was before I knew much.)

    4. Same plant, just a shot of one of the pups (there's probably 7 or 8) up closer to the rim of the pot.

    5. Echeveria "Neon Breakers" - this one has really come into itself through summer.

John, my hubby grew up in Pasadena (when he wasn't in school in Scotland) and his mom would send him out on trash day to collect succulents tossed out on the side of the road to be picked up by the trash guys! They had a beautiful succulent garden!

@rina_Ontario,Canada 5a those are some gorgeous photos! And the cake is pretty good too :)

You've got to tell us how old that zz is, I've heard they're notoriously slow growers. And that ludisia is incredible - thank you for sharing! I've developed a somewhat recent fascination with jewel orchids and that one is really impressive. I usually just see pictures of one stalk with a couple of leaves.

We've had so much rain here in Indiana the past few weeks and I've gotten some decent shots early in the morning. I'm very excited about the third one - it's the latest addition of mine, a Sinocrassula yunnanensis, possibly the crested form. And the last one is a dahlia that showed up about 2 weeks ago, and it's massive! Hope everyone is well.

    John

In my experience, ZZ is extremely slow. I have tried to root many leaves, but lots of them rotted for me. So I feel very good about few that didn't. Plants in the photo are over 2yrs old. I have another, green ZZ that I damaged a stalk, but lef it in the pot and it grew 2 new shoots from the bulb that was NOT damaged. That was much faster; I didn't take photo right away as I thought it will not make it - IIRC, it took but 3mo for 1st shoot to appear. Photo 1 is from July - damaged stem is still there & 2 shoots are just growing. I cut the damaged off, & just taken 2nd photo. So you can see how much they grew in 3.5months

The Ludisia discolor has been doing well. I have sold 5 single-stems. I traded 1 cutting of Cebu blue (rooted) for a tiny Macodes (green). It was smaller, grew 2 tiny leaves since I got it in July 2021. Hope it will grow - it has been slow so far:

I also bought another purple one but with different markings (name escapes me now). That one I got in beg. of Sept., & is growing 2nd leaf since:
