IMO get a better sconce with better lighting. You will need to go ceiling hugger style lighting if you add to the ceiling I would like to see the whole entry too. Get fixtures with LED 4000K if you want better lighting that sconce is pretty maybe in a 1/2 bath it would still have a purpose.

Patricia Colwell- Thanks for your input. A new sconce might be the answer. I have a small powder room which needs new lighting but am afraid this is too big :( My search for a compatable ceiling fixture has netted this:

But the rounded bulb doesn't marry up with my sconce.
