help me choose accent chairs

I have an open floor plan and i am almost done decorating my new home, I got simple circular nesting tables on the way (added a picture) but I am totally stuck on how to close the decor with the accent chairs. I added some ideas for inspiration… I’m trying to stay away from farm house look and keep it more modern … all the furniture is from crate and barrel and CB2 … any ideas are so welcomed!

With a sectional you don’t need any more pieces. I may get a lighter colored, and larger rug.

Ugh I know the rugs can be larger, especially the dinning table rugs! Thank you!

To bring warmth from floor and dining table... ?

Solid -- if you'll add pattern in pillows, etc...

I have these exactly bc the crate and barrel designer told me I should bring warmth 😀

He suggested this one but I think it was bc I was a bit too excited with this trend but I’m not quite sure …

I came upon this, which could play off your art - look at all 4 sides of it -

I'd look for a (one) chair that is light visually. Maybe even see through able. (like this https://www.roomandboard.com/catalog/living/chairs/callan-leather-chair-and-ottoman Something with a fair bit of wood. The Jason chair at Interior Define might suit you https://www.interiordefine.com/jason-wu-custom-petite-accent-chair Or consider a fully upholstered swivel with a low (but comfy) arm, especially if you think the chair needs to be able to face the sectional sometimes and the TV sometimes.

Also, have you considered placing a slim console table snug behind the sectional on the window wall? Then you could do a lamp and a plant or two to add more dimension to your space. All overhead lighting never works for me,even with dimmers but,as ever, ymmv.

That Jason chair is amazing and I see what you mean by following a “visually light” concept with the colors.

I have thought of a console, it was also a concept that the MGBW designer suggested but I didn’t go with their design … it’s hard for me to visualize it I will look for some inspiration boards .. thank you

C A, the console trick is one I do often because I don't like to put holes in the walls for a shelf plus I am lazy. (disclaimer: not a designer, just a landlady) This shelf is sturdy and might work, depending on the height of the frame on your sectional. https://www.wayfair.com/furniture/pdp/mercer41-benoit-56-console-table-w005405322.html Another option would be to add cool sconces to that window wall or a floor lamp. Think of lighting your spaces in layers...overhead,ambient, and task.

I would get mismatched chairs for interest. maybe a modern looking recliner and then a straighter backed chair that looks like something inherited. If everything is modern it CAN look boring.

IMO the sectional is the wrong piece for the space but now IMO you do have space for 2 chirs so one with a ottoman . BTW midern certainly does not need to be boring. I agree therugs need to be much larger and of course some color so pull some colors from the DR art for accents in the LR to start.

Would love to hear your take on the space, what type of couch could go there? … 2 chairs could go there if they are super compact … I think if I did I would close the space so I am just adding just the one chair, the coffee table won’t allow room for an ottoman …. I should add the purpose of the room is lazy couch potato mode with hints of wine with friends and entertaining (no kidos yet) 😉

There isn't anything wrong with that sectional. Don't change it.

What about changing the orientation of the rug?

Suggest one really comfy chair (and potentional ottoman) on an angle near plant, with a floor lamp.

Rust would be a great choice and I really like the chair below, with the black legs option for your room.

Don’t forget cushions (rust, blue and cream is a great combination) and to warm up the space even further and create more interest, consider new blinds.

Absolutely agree with maybe new blinds, I have changed and moved the direction of the rug a bunch of times but keep coming back to this bc I feel like it makes the space longer I can move the rug toward the couch and move the couch back to add space between the console and the coffee table once it gets here. Here is a picture of how I had it before:

I love that accent chair color I think it would add that balance with the blue and gray kitchen and black rug!!!

Rust it is!! And that one from edloe is def a great price

Funny how we posted adding the warmth- of tan chair. I looked more closely, and the leather chairs are stools. What about repeating your blue somewhere in the room?

Did you like the contemporary patchwork chair I posted?

I think that chair is too trendy and cool for my personality I am not that cool 🤷🏻‍♀️ so it would def push me to a place of comfort that I don’t have haha … The house is builder grade so i am trying to stay away from walking into what would look like a sterile office type thing, I keep hearing from most pros the same thing add warmth, I must admit I had to google what actually meant and found this article it was super helpful

Time to eliminate the overhead light from the fan. The quality of that fixture is no better than something you would place in your garage. Replace with floor lamps and table lamps for better quality ambient lighting in the room.

I hate the fan, this will help me convince my husband that I am not the only one. Thank you

Agree the lighting will get some work too. Do you think I should use gray for the accent chair? My kitchen cabinets and counters are gray and the dinning room chairs are also gray. Floor lamp is in my oficial list for next items to add!

Too much grey! What about a blue chair? I don't know why you need a chair !!?

What struck you as good from the article you posted earlier?
