Our fencing contractor accidentally installed douglas fir rails on our privacy fence instead of cedar (as we had agreed.) I don't know much about wood products but it appears Douglas Fir is a far inferior product compared to cedar. We live in a cold, snowy northern US climate. Does anybody have thoughts about if it makes more sense to try to get them to replace the rails with cedar or take a discount and keep the Douglas Fir? Thanks in advance!
