Paint color help - Trying to compliment the killer view/surroundings

I'd love some help with paint color ideas! We just moved into an awesome house that needs some remodel work, but we're holding off until next year to start. Things that will get remodeled: kitchen counters and cabinets, all lighting fixtures, and removing the weird part of the ceiling coming down into the kitchen.

So, we're waiting on the big projects but in the meantime, I NEED to paint, haha. I just have no idea what colors to work with. I want color, but want things to flow as well as look natural with the surroundings. Adding in some view pictures to get an idea of that.

I have no idea what style I like. Despite the 10 million quizzes I've taken. I love moody colors, jewel colors, pretty much anything. I just have no idea what color to put where to make it all flow. I've considered just doing everything a soft Greig, but just feel like it would make me happier to have some sort of color saturating the walls. For photo reference, the green wall room is to the left of the front door and the window room to the right. You can see parts of them from one another, and the window in the green wall room also looks out to the ocean.

I'd love any feedback!

    Wow what a gorgeous view.

Is the furniture in the pictures staying?

Jean, the only thing staying long term are the two grey couches and the two oriental rugs, and the dining table (not the chairs)

liz, definity. one photo was before we moved in, and the other has an owl art because i was trying to imagine light blue walls :)

Jean that's so cool! Thank you! And Marylee I really like ppg hurricane haze!

When looking at paint colors, should the entire kitchen/ocean view room be the same color, and should the entryway (which is currently a weird metallic gray) and the stairwell wall (currently metallic blue) be the same color as the ocean window room or their own colors?

AND then the room which currently has the giant green double accent wall...there's just a lot of weird angle walls. Should that all be the same color too or should there be a few different paint colors in that room? Sorry for the million questions, I'm immensely overwhelmed haha. I'd love to add an earthy deep color into the room that currently has the green wall.... but I don't know if painting every wall in that room a dark color would be too dark.

I look at Houzz every day and there are literally hundreds of pictures of other people's homes that I think are beautiful, but knowing who you are and how you live and what colors make your heart sing is where you need to begin with making decisions.

I may be able to appreciate the beauty of an intricately carved antique sideboard, but it belongs in someone else's home, not mine. Same with rustic weathered wood or a formal velvet sofa.

I like to be comfortable. I usually wear PJs or a sweat suit, t-shirts, shorts. I like having one on one conversations, large crowds or too many people exhaust me. I work hard, but at a steady pace. Hate to be rushed. I am introspective, a numbers person, systematic and reasoned. I need clean lines and simple, comfortable, minimalistic spaces. I am a change leader, so less likely to follow trends or stay within the "rules". I have found that Mid Century Modern furniture fits my personality and the way I live my life.

Can you describe a day in the life of Jami. Do you enjoy relaxing in the evening watching a comedy on tv, do you prefer having game night with 3 or 4 other people, do you have big football BBQs or wine and cheese parties or are you more likely to go outside after work and garden for an hour or go for a hike? Are you high energy or more quiet. More formal or more relaxed. Conservative or bold. Are you a change resister (like the status quo), a change follower (accepting) or a change leader (challenging the status quo)?

Now look back at all those pictures you looked at in the past and weed out the things that may be attractive, but don't fit with the way you live your day to day life. Think about the homes of your friends and family. Which ones can you see yourself living in. What makes you feel at home?

This should help you define your personal style.

A darker color on the view wall makes the view glow...

I meant to leave you some information on color last night, but got pulled away.

Same as with finding your personal style, finding your personal color palette is all about you.

We actually increase dopamine production when we see colors that we associate with memories that bring us joy. Since your life experience is unique, the colors that make your heart sing are also unique. We are subconsciously drawn to art and fabrics and things that have these colors in them. People apparently are naturally vain, because these same colors are almost always colors that look good on us. My sister-in-law, with her golden blond hair and blue eyes is drawn to cornflower blues and peaches and creamy whites. My olive toned sister is drawn to a fall color palette with deep orange reds, golds, muted greens and greige. I have dark hair and eyes and light skin and am drawn to deep wine reds, purples, teals and clean bright colors (lime green, sunshine yellow, bright coral). The super clean colors are limited in my house - too saturated, too bright, but are prominent in my summer wardrobe.

If I gather some of my art and things you can see a pattern - I didn't go out looking for art that was some specific color, but what I liked enough to buy tends to have the colors I love.

My Patio is where I was able to use the brighter colors that I also love, but were too strong for my interior

Here is a sample of colors that were used when we chose colors for my sister

I think my sister's home is beautiful, but it is too busy for me and the colors that work in her home and bring her joy look lovely, but are not the colors that bring me great joy.

To make your home personal, you need to explore the colors you love, the colors that will make your body respond with happiness when you walk into the room and see the colors that were incorporated into your design.

Thank you guys so much for the help and feedback! family in town is halting my decision making process haha but look forward to digging deeper into your response jennifer, and really like the dark contrast your photo shows, Jean!

I would use one of these greens to blend with the scenery. The white tones do not blend. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/789044797201838342/

Here are a few that I would look at. My favorite is Poised Taupe, I also love the coral, but it may be too much color for a larger space. If I wanted to go light I would probably go to Creamy or Choice Cream. Something with a good bit of warmth without going yellow.

You say the oriental rugs are staying. That is your jumping off point and if you ignore them entirely you will regret it. Paint is usually chosen last and compliments the architecture and decor. You have a great view and yes like other have said a darker wall there will make that view pop. But start with the dusty slates I see in the rug - that will make the room feel pulled together and enhance the view.

I think the photo Jean posted with the darker blue is beautiful with the view, wood tones, and the rugs.

I just wanted to pop back in and say thank you all so much for the help! Here's where I'm at with this room. I can't paint the wall that is perpendicular to the window wall, because it runs into the kitchen and cabinets will need to be removed, and I'm not mentally ready to tackle that until we start backsplash haha. But here it is so far! Pardon the mess

    Wow, Love it!!
