What size ceiling fan to choose and best brands

We are making changes to a home purchased recently and one of those is this ceiling fan in our great room. Haven't ever seen one quite like it and it has to go! It appears to be a 72" fan, but we wonder if we need to stick with that size or if anything 60" or larger would work? Any suggestion on brands or even a particular fan? And should it have a light(though this one doesn't really provide much)? We have lamps, but the room still seems dark at times.The house is a lake cottage with somewhat rustic decor, and this room is about 15' x 16' with this vaulted ceilings and this fireplace cutting off a corner. Beside the fireplace there is a railing open to loft area. Any input appreciated! Thanks!

60 plus would be fine.

Question of the day tho, do you really need a fan? Id be installing something decorative.

If you have a high ceiling and an opening to a second floor (which it looks like you do in your first picture), you do need a fan to push the warm air down. My husband the engineer recommends a DC type fan because they are quieter. We just bought two last year. Minka Aire has some DC models. I can't tell how large the room is, but you would probably be OK with a 52". Most of them come with lights now.

The one you have is really unique! :-)

Casablanca fans. I think they really are the best. Thought it was much ado about nothing until we bought a house that had them. Nice.

Great fan. its probably casablanca, but they are no longer the same, owned by hunter, made in china.
