Need Help! 2 toned kitchen cabinets or wood everywhere??

One panel covering the fridge is white and on the opposite side I have a white oak . My house is open concept so you see this view from the front door. Will it look weird to have one panel white and the other one wood? I’m trying to finalize and I can’t decide!!
Maybe I should do it all in that white oak but husband thinks it’ll be too heavy and is leaning towards white uppers.

Hi. My thought is about reducing quantity of cabinets - specifically, eliminating 2 uppers by the stove --might lessen the heavy weight of wood. Backsplash would be highlighted. I favor white on both 'showing' panels.

Getting rid of uppers was my thought to, and then going all wood. You seem to have plenty of storage even without most (any?) of the uppers around the sink and range. Losing uppers will also make the kitchen visually bigger.

I would also want the sink out of the corner. It looks like it has the nicest view in the kitchen, but I hate corner sinks.

I dont think the two tone cabinets work with your layout for the reason you mentioned.

I wouldnt eliminate all of the uppers, but removing the tiny ones above the stove would make that space look more open and ease your husbands concern of all wood looking too heavy.

The two toned look doesn’t work with your layout because you have several tall cabinets that need to be one color. Two toned kitchens tend to look better with clear cut uppers and lowers. You need to stick with one material or dramatically change the layout.

Definitely wood everywhere given your layout. Would you consider not paneling your fridge to break up the wood if your husband thinks it’s “too much”?

I have yet to see a kitchen with uppers one way and bottoms another looking good. I prefer the two town done with a bit more mix in the end. The tops all one and bottoms always give me the impression the kitchen continues to be under renovation and I wonder which way the owners are going. A few years ago bases were wood/doors painted or vise versa which at least looked intentional and complete. Maybe just do the island in white and the rest wood or vise versa...

Agree with all the comments. Eliminate the uppers around the stove. And the uppers near the refrigerator if you can. Eliminate the microwave in the upper for sure - put the microwave in the island or on the hutch like wall. You can go free standing or microwave drawer. I have one for 4 years love it. Maybe consider a consider an entire new plan - the corner sink would drive me crazy. IMO angled cabinets are very dated. Keep us updated…and don’t settle, mlove it before you commit. Best of luck!

Thank you for the responses! I was iffy on the two tone being unfinished looking like many of you said, thank you for the confirmation!!

I’ve gone for all white oak wood. It’ll take a 10-13 weeks to get here so a long wait before I can share with you all our results!!

    Good 'luck' Katie!

Yes, Katie, please share the end result.

Katie, can you share what design tool you used? The renderings look good, and I am also designing my own kitchen.

Dean, my kitchen designer did this for me. I have no idea what she used, sorry!

Katie, the combination of materials in your kitchen is beautiful! it is a very inviting space. Is the wall betweeen the cabinets wallpaper? What is the floor material? Thanks.

Wow! I love your kitchen. Thank you for not moving the sink out of the corner, it was absolutely the right thing to do in your kitchen. And I love that you eliminated the wall cabinets around the range and the window. And that setback cabinet to the right of the MW is a perfect transition to the corner window. And I love your hood, which lightens the uppers and sort of gives you the two-tone look you were considering without it looking disjointed. And I love your backsplash and countertop choices. And the veiw out of your windows is simply spectacular with all that lush landscaping! Nicely done!

@debbiedump it is a Calcutta marble mosaic tile backsplash from tilebar! And the floors are Matte porcelain tile. I got them from Tilebar/lowes as well. I saw them at a restaurant and had to have them. It’s terrazzo inspired, it looks lighter in person than photographed!!

It’s gorgeous! The cabinets are beautiful and your backsplash is the perfect complement. The floors too! So many good choices! And yes, the bigger windows are fabulous. I am sure you smile every morning when you go in there. So well done!
