I want it clean and fresh, I got boring

This is a spare bedroom. I am going to buy a new bed and nigh stand.. most likely a dresser as well. I would like to keep the rug if possible. It was very expensive but if it doesn’t match my decor, I’m sure I can put it in my husband‘s man cave.. need ideas for pictures and nice decor.. I’m thinking cream upholstery headboard with black nightstands. I’m going to paint the door white.

I just really need somewhere to start

My husband was settled in his home and I was settled in mine when we met.. we sold both homes and built this new one.. so there are a few extras items to play around with.. all I need are suggestions..

What do you guys suggest for decor on the night stands and dresser..

I’m having so much fun right now!! Thank you..

You mention "cream-light headboard and black nighstands." My vote is no, because seems too 'severe' contrasting with light rug. I actually prefer 1 black door with white trim and dresser.. what about that?

Nice to experiment. I like what you had initially though. The white nightstands you show seems mid-century, and no imo. Funny I guess... I like chair's wood table [warming like the wood stands you had].

Over bed even with fresh floral/white/black pillows - try blue sky in rectangular canvas art.

Everdebz what would your vote be on cream upholstery headboard and white nightstands..?

But with what? what color rug, and what color door? Does white bedding with a throw blanket at foot of bed "count"?

Sounds like you want wood stain only for floor is that it? I mean, not wood headboard.

I’m ok with the wooden bed.. if I can make it work..

Just thinking the oak stand , cherrywood bed and walnut floor was a lot of different wood Colors..

I love your advice. Your suggestions is what I used to do my office and I loved it..

You have so many visions.. I can’t make one ..lol

    Love both of these..

@kerrydavis replying to your pics with choices - cream lamps for sure & love that new table with silver edge but I still think that pot & plant too big for table & should go on floor. That yellow fabric with black in it is great! Do you have a black throw for bed? Really do like the yellow flower vase on dresser & the black framed florals over the bed! Yes, do lift the mirror to cover the outlet - I think everdebz suggested, mirror can sit on vertical on dresser to cover outlet but looks like a square mirror.

I take your inspiration and try to match it.. I enjoying looking at all your ideas.. you are so good at it.. I’ll decide on a Color tomorrow and then make some good plans..

Nightstands need some storage in them. Might want to consider getting one that has a built in USB charger as well.

I love how much fun you are having. This room is 85% there: The MCM side tables and blue lamps are fantastic and look great with the headboard. I'd keep the white mirror and raise it. The rug is a calming base and goes well with everything. The new arm chair table is perfect. Wall color is great. Wait until this has all come together to decide on the door color. I like the current contrast of black with the white dresser.

I'd use just a lumbar pillow to the arm chair, a complimentary throw at the foot of the bed, and use your two white pillows plus two beige pillows, and your arrow pillow in the middle. Clear glass dresser knobs to echo the glass on the overhead light.

(I'm not loving the yellow floral pillows or the big rectangular flower art work. They seem cute and the rest of the room is getting serene and sophisticated.)

LOVE all the yellow you added!! The stands are perfect...keep it simple!!

For your other dilemma, take that artwork and try it over the sofa in your sunroom(it can lean for now). At least it will give you an idea for needed artwork in that space.

Kerry, new day I'll try looking slower. :) and "take stock." Ok - what's traditional style? -- the bed, rug?

Add in walls a beige - imo no yellow/black pillows [in another room].

Sleigh bed - imo no little white nightstands with it. Blue lamps seem too plain for a pretty chandelier.

You were 'right' about the light/blonde nightstands. I liked your initial photo with chair/plant/table/yellow floral art --- is room on the north side? do you feel it needs sunny colors?

    Made the pillow..

What nightstand do you suggest ? Picture for reference?

You can easily hang that mirror 5or 6" above the dresser to cover the outlets. Hang the art above the bed just one frame's width apart. You don't want that vignette to be as wide or wider than the headboard. Here's how to get the right height for new lamps.

@kerrydavis very cute pillow on the chair & I like plant on floor. Would you bring the other table back with silver / gray that you had by the chair? It’s larger so more proportionate & great with the rug. Maybe flip the pillow so flowers pointing up - I know - it’s an OCD detail 🤦🏻‍♀️😊

:) nice smaller pillow and the blond- light table is back.

I think I saw you had nightstands that match the bed?

I like the arm chair area..
    rug is gone..
I put the original night stand back.. I can paint it white.. same as dresser.. ( I’m good at repurposing things😝

New bedding, new rug, new furniture if needed.. paintings? New Color scheme.. I can make other pillows.. I made the big yellow ones for the bed, but decided to use them on the sofa..

Think I got it figured out!! I like this.. I’ll get another print like on the bed to put over the bed.

I like what you did! with outlined flower/leaf design.

But it could be you don't need to change current wood nightstand, because it's dressy [like the chandelier]. White dresser seems a 'blend' with white bedding. Is the chair white too?

    Chair is cream Color

Hi Kerry, Have you thought about a duvet cover for your comforter?

I often say: "new day, a new look at it." I still like the deep wood combo of bed/nightstand. It seems to tip the balance of the room toward "serious decor." I bet some wouldn't agree, but I think it's the dressy chandelier that makes me like less white, and more traditional wood stain...

I don't know for sure the bed needs another print - your pillows 'show well'... and grey items add a 'color block'...

you like to sew... maybe you'd like a trim added for a little detail, on what? :)

The wall behind your bed needs some oomph. How about a nice architectural wall?
Search Houzz. It will totally make your room. We did our living room a year or so ago. Not a lot of money and high impact. It's a Saturday afternoon project.
Everything else in your room looks fabulous.

Rather than architectural wall, search board and batten wall.

All the suggestions here are amazing, but probably you should try to make your interior online firstly? Kinda use some interior design platform before buying the decor. Idk planner5d or roomster, or if you are familiar with, probably - sketchup?

I liked your mood board... 2 black furniture pieces might be too much for a small room [even if you painted the door white as you said].

What if the 2 pieces were soft-medium blue [and the door white]?

Some say that chalk paint is a diy. Something like:

Can your headboard be lifted? I think your bed would have more presence if the headboard was higher. Over many, many years i have never attached my headboard to the frame; I've found it totally unnecessary. The headboatd can then be raised by bricks or 2x4s under the legs or hung by French cleats.

You have a knack - it's not boring how you've arranged options. Nov. 14 was nice, but the nightstands seemed low/small.
