Tell me about …. Towels

It‘s time for us to refresh our bath towels and I’m having a bit of a hard time shopping online for them. Do you have a preferred brand or style of towel?

We live in a damp climate so I’m looking for more lightweight, quicker drying towels as opposed to plush. I’m kind of obsessed with the idea of these LL Bean towels but cant imagine paying $1000 cad to outfit us especially while my kid is still in his messier years.

I just bought these for the bath remodel I'm doing. They look like they might meet your criteria. I put a grab bar in place of a towel rack and needed a not too thick towel so they could be folded and fit. And a certain, hard to find blue. They seem great quality - cotton and bamboo.
I have not yet dried with them tho, but they have good reviews: https://www.thecompanystore.com/bath-towels/bamboo-cotton-towels/VJ53-19.html?dwvar_VJ53-19_color=MISTY%20BLUE

I will follow, because I need new towels, too :)

The more expensive plush towels I've bought frayed around the edges too soon. I've bought towels from WM before that are still good. The towels I bought from The Company store about 15 years ago are still going strong.

I'm like you though, I've decided I want a light weight towel because they dry the body faster, and dry faster. And they take up less space in the laundry. My dryer died last night. :(

Following too. Love a lightweight towel, nothing plush. I bought some inexpensive ones that fill up the lint filter every time I wash and continue to do so. Non-shedding if they exist.

I like a ribbed towel, and not to thick. I like quick drying but not the uber quick drying type you use for sports; to me they have a weird feel.

I buy them at Target. Each kid has their own color. So a towel thief can be easily spotted and apprehended. If you are stuck w your own towels, you tend to hang them up to dry, I find.

My own MO is different. I like the thin terry twists for my hair, and a frette white terry robe in winter. I love these velcro towel wraps in summer.

My favorites are the LL Bean towels you posted. They are light weight, absorbent and dry quickly. I have a bunch of nice towels and these aren't as pretty, but they are the only ones I like now. I wish they came in nicer colors though.

My husbands favorite towels are the Charisma bath sheets we got at Costco after buying them for our sons. I have some waffle weave linen I'm about to stitch up into bath towels. I once used a piece of linen to squeeze my hair dry and loved the way it wicked away more water than the standard cotton -- and it dries faster too. I won't pay Rough Linen's price for bath towels when I can make my own. If I like them as much as I do my kitchen towels, I may soon want nothing else.

I bought my Martha Stewart's Quick Dry towels from Macy's. They're affordable - often on sale - and come in pretty colors - I have pink, aqua and yellow, which all go well with our 50s pink tiled bathroom.

It's very humid here as well, and thick towels get smelly fast.

Costco fluffy white Charisma towels, but I don’t live in a humid climate.

Thanks so much to everyone for the recommendations!! I went to the Macy’s website and the Martha Stewart quick dry towels were on super clearance (even including shipping to Canada!) so I am giving them a try.

But still considering adding several bath sheets to the mix.

JC Penney Quick-Dry towels are the BEST. Mine are 11 years old, and still look great. I have not added many to the collection, because the Aldi towels are inexpensive, and we like them, but in the summer, they will NOT dry from AM to PM.

Edit: those MS towels are available in my favorite seaglass color, but who needs 4 HAND towels, and ZERO wash cloths?? What kind of an 8 piece set is that??

The washcloths are available separately haha. Now my mother in law just told me she HATES those Martha Stewart towels - so I will just have to see. They sure do get good reviews on the site!

Another vote for Costco Charisma towels. I only buy white so I can bleach as necessary.

P.S. I live in a very humid section of the country. I’ve never had issues with the Charisma towels.

I also like the ribbed towels at Target. In a guest bath I use a beautiful blue color in the ribbed towels.. In the master bath, I like the JC Penney towel - not too thick but not too thin. The Mr. likes the Liz Claiborne large (or they maybe a bath sheet) towels. They are too thick for me. We use aqua, tan and beige towels in that bathroom. I don't have a need to bleach towels. I do love the look of turkish towels, but I don't like to dry with them. Let us know how you like the MS towels!

I have the Kohl's and JCP quick drying ones at the beach condo. Not too thin, not too thick.

I like JC Penney's for home goods. I live in a dry climate and just purchased super thick plush towels....but they had thin, quick drying towels. I prefer Egyptian Cotton Link to towels
