help with this wall decor - daughter’s bedroom in

My daughter wanted to repaint her room. In the spirit of letting her express herself, I’m stuck with this color. The backboard to the bed and the top of her nightstand are peel and stick wallpaper she picked out. An egg chair will go in the corner where the teal chair is. Obviously that mirror doesn’t fit. Any suggestions?
I’m adding her before pic - when the room was pretty. I feel that because it’s such a bold room, I could do something big and eclectic. Or I could also do something minimalist to town it down.
Don’t forget, she’s 7 so she’s gotta like it too lol.

    Here’s the before 😭

I think your daughter has done a great job! IMO she is expressing an adventurous spirit! With her blanket being art, and the patterned headboard I wouldn’t put art above bed, but agree the mirror doesn’t work. Maybe a sconce or a pair of sconces would be nice.
I’m also wondering if this is best placement of the bed as it looks off not center on the wall.

While you and I may find combination of the paint, headboard, and quilt disharmonious (I think they are all fabulous individually!!!), my guess is that your daughter isn't bothered at all by that.

The mirror is small and meh. Maybe something that pulls together the wall blue, quilt blue, and headboard green.

I live in earthquake country so the first think I think about is what will happen if whatever is over the bed falls on a sleeper's head. I have a textile wallhanging over my bed.

I love her room and the color. The pink before was too babyish. I'm not fond of the comforter on the bed, but if she likes it, it's her room. I think the comforter would be nice hanging on a wall that her bed isn't on as a art piece. Maybe she would like a macrame piece hanging above the bed.

Don't worry if you don't think the room is pretty. In a couple years she will want it re-done again anyway.

Love it! So much more inspiring (and fun!) than the pink!!! I'd hang a wide, white macrame above the bed, get fluffy white bedding, and hang the quilt on the wall. Complete the look with pillows in the colors in the room - a softer tone of the paint color, the softer green in the headboard, the color of the border of the quilt, and pink.

This is a bit rough like jungle leaves are ... does she need one? Does the egg chair have the silvery frame?

Personally, I wouldn't choose stand too 'framey' which seems mid-century more...

or maybe not this moon / cheese look... ;)

You just need an accent colour.

Why does a 7 year old have a bed large enough for a 500 pound adult? She seems small. Why not a child’s twin bed???
Curtains. Peel and stick wallpaper, stuffed animals on a shelf, pretty pillows, a fluffy duvet, a TWIN bed - these are all nice age appropriate things for a 7 year old who was only in diapers a few years ago. How about a playhouse bed? Look on amazon. You’re on fast fwd with her growth. Childhood first. Then adolescence. Then adulthood. Phew.

I wish I could respond to you all individually. (Does this app allow for that?)
I need to google what a macrame is.
I gave her that quilt as a Christmas gift, thinking she’d use it once in a while. I truly did not want it displayed how she does but again, it’s her room.
I agree 100% with white fluffy bedding. She has that. But the quilt of her travels takes over.
Her bed is only slightly bigger than a twin, it’s a double. That’s what we had to do in order to keep her in her bed at night instead of ours. So it’s STAYING! 😆
Also, it’s a large room. I could probably move the bed. I didn’t think of that.

Also, I’m shocked but feeling better reading that some of you like her color choice more. It definitely has more personality. I didn’t see it that way before.

Could work as well if she could see it by the wall, over a ladder:

I do not like the headboard at all in the space so I guess that would be my first choice to change even if it is just a cover that goes over it. My advice usually for kides rooms is to keep the wall color neutral since they change their favorite color yearly at that age but now that it is teal I would just go with it and remember her space not yours. The fact is if she loves it leave it I do not think there is space for an egg chair in there .A nice roman shade would be better than that blind and what else does she need ? I think a lamp would be good for reading. I think I need to know what else she thinks she needs in the space . I like closet organizers for girls to be able to be adjusted as they get older , if she likes reading then a book shelf . I need a bit more info.

There’s a lot of visual noise with the headboard and blanket - would she be open to using a solid cover comforter to create some separation between them and let the eye rest, then folding her photo blanket at the foot of the bed? Depending on how it’s folded, it looks like a row of photos can be visible at a time, and refolded periodically to feature a different row. I like a “nap blanket” at the foot of the bed anyway so the entire bed doesn’t have to be remade if someone wants a take a quick rest.

The walls are a bright, bold color, especially against the backdrop of snow outside. That view should be also be considered as “art”. Drapes can help soften the contrast transition as well as add texture, and complimentary art above the bed can pull that side of the room together.

I appreciate your approach to this and hope you and your daughter are enjoying the process together!

... say "I will wash it less if we keep the quilt off the bed." ?!

    [and on a display ladder]
