I would guess that you have very hard water.

Thanks, that’s sound logical. The weird thing is that it started only a couple of weeks ago but nothing has changed to cause it.

Are you on a municipal water supply or private well?

Municipal water.

Perhaps a problem or change has occurred with treatment equipment or supplies at the city facility.

Could it be that deposits built up and finally let loose?

Same issue here, very disappointed in this fridge. To here that there is no resolution is a shame. My old Amana fridge of 18 years never had this issue, but my brand new LG is terrible and I paid over 4K for it!

I have three LG refrigerators (2 in Florida 1 in Texas) my home in Florida was a water purification system plus the water filter in the refrigerator itself and I still have white powder in the water tray on all three.

Eliminating mineral content from hard water requires a water softener. Water filters don't do it.

I'm experiencing the same issue. Interestingly, my previous fridge which lasted 10 years, also LG never gave me this issue, yet I've noticed this ever since buying this one about a year ago. LG also tells me that it's Calcium Calbonate. I do know that it was recommended to me when I moved to my current place about 10 years ago that I install a hard water filter for the entire house, yet this is the first time I see any like this. One last thing about this. When I started researching this online, no matter what website I went to, consumers always referenced LG refrigerators. I think that's too much of a coincidence.

I have the same issue and had the repair man come out only for him to tell me its a hard water issue. Im well aware im not a repair person but you would think that LG is very aware of this problem and would have a solution to fix this annoyance we live with 🙄🙄 and this is everyday. SAD !!!!
