Help decorating living room with modern fire place

My future home features a decent size living space with a large window and opens to the dining area. There is an electric fireplace with very modern lines. My personal style is a mix of mid-century modern and rustik. I already have 1 light grey mid-century modern 3-seat sofa . I was looking for some advice on how to decorate this space to make it feel a bit warmer yet modern. Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

Your room is leaning towards MCM and to help fine tune, searching Pinterest and Houzz can be really helpful. Get a sense of combinations you like and what was used.

Just need art, some lighting, cushions, side tables (or floor lamp), and accessories.

Consider what to do with walls next to fireplace.

IMO rustic and MCM are not comaptible . Is that oyur furniture in the space ? Do you need to have a TV in there ? Wjhat Isee right now is a place with some furniture but not a cohesive inviting space those single chirs sitting in no way connected to the LR are just odd. The pics are not right so hard to get a feel for the space but a to scale floor plan would be great. IMO the FP is not one I would keep in there since it looks like an after thought which it was.

I think maybe you are confusing us, is this a listing photo you are providing?

Can you post a picture of your sofa and items?

That fireplace is not 'modern' per say but transitional, it shouldnt dictate the room.

Are you asking for a paint color?

Make your FP as focal point and put sitting furniture facing the FP. Create ideabooks with design you like and follow it.

I think MCM and rustic are compatible, depending on what you mean by "rustic". What comes to mind is "organic modern" and/or "boho" -- both which use a lot of Scandanavian lines but with lots of natural textures.

Since this room is black and white and your couch is grey, you can warm it up with wood, tan leather, pottery, and natural fibres -- like sisal, cane, unbleached linen, stuff made of cotton rope, etc.

and, of course, lots of plants!

Here are some examples of items that can be placed on either side of a fireplace.

You have nice corner to put sectional by the window.

I'm not crazy about the mirror above. It's basically reflecting a white wall. Perhaps nice big art piece like in some of these inspiration pictures and then maybe move the mirror to another wall where it will look more like a window onto something else . . .

I agree with the others, cozy up around the fireplace. But are you going to have a TV in the room? That's a consideration too . . .

Don't rule out the possibility of putting furniture at an angle . . .

Thank you all for these suggestions!

To clarify, these are not my furniture in the picture ( listing pictures). The sofa I currently have is here:

@maureen: love these inspo photos thank you, especially the 3rd one to enhance the FP wall!

@patricia Colwell: I dont plan on having a TV in this room. Unfortunately, I xant afford to get rid of the FP at the moment

@happyleg: i want to keep the room white for now! Simply looking for furniture arrangement and decor ideas!

@celeri: love the idea of making FP the focal point!

@beverlyFLA: love the idea of having bookshelves on either side of FP

@seattleMCm: organic modern would definitely be it for me! Loving all the inspo pictures you shared!

@pinkmountain: no TV in the room! I want it to be a chic and cozy room to welcome friends and have long conversations after a nice dinner!

I think the rustic modern photo looks kind of ridged and not cozy. More like Staged feel. Celery girls looks more comfortable just my thoughts
