Red house and need help with front door paint colour

My house has red siding and need help with picking a colour that goes well with the red siding but also the stone. Light or dark? I don’t want anything that really pops because my red siding does that 😊 Looking for a colour that just complements the red, thanks in advance!

I agree with @kandrewspa—i would paint it the same as the garage door.

I also agree with kandrewspa Same as garage door.

Gosh - love the current color. If you want low contrast, go with garage door color.

Are the blue steps temporary or should they be factored in?

They are definitely more blue then what we anticipated, they are staying. We are hoping to seal them bc when they are wet they are not as blue

This house is CUTE. Love that metal roof and the red siding! The door definitely should be a cooler tone - I don't think it needs to match the garage, per se, but it would be nice to have it in the same family. Blue-grey would be nice.

Our old house was red (BM China Red) and I loved it with a blue door (BM Phillipsburg Blue)!

I agree Garage Door Color, but maybe a Shade or Two lighter.

This is a hard question because you've chosen two STRONG colors for the house. I love them. And I love the porch details: a landing, then a bit covered, then a bit open. But I do not like the yellow.

To the point: I'm not with the majority in saying, "Go with the garage door color." I fear if you do, you're going to come out with TOO MUCH red and gray. Isn't the rule, Your front door and your mailbox should match and should be a color that doesn't appear anywhere else?

What's the goal here? To make your front door stand out /to attract the eye (and visitors) to the entry point. So a stand-out color is a positive. I'm voting wood-tone to match the trim around the porch.

Another vote for the gray. You can probably find a 3x5 red and gray rug that would lovely in front of the door.

I would just paint it the same creamy white as the trim around it and the nearby windows. It will pop but still be neutral and calming to balance out everything else going on. (I love a red farmhouse! And think white is the classic accent color for it).

Hoping you are doing a railing at the top of the steps…. in that case i would treat the wood…to establish a permanent color and then have the door match that color …since you seem to have other accents in the area of the same material…i would treat them as well….

A wood door would be ideal…for the setting ….and the style of the house

What are the steps made of? Perhaps a masonry stain from Romabio could change them.

They are concrete, thanks for the recommendation, I will look into this 🙂

I would go with a wood color, but whatever color you decide paint the inside door window trim the same color.

Thanks for all the input! With so much testing and back and forth I went with my gut and am very happy with. The grey was too dark and not my style. Thought I would share the results as I do appreciate everyone weighing in.
