You mean TFL? Thermally Fused Laminate? If the house has a modern or contemporary flair, I think it's completely fine! I'm doing one now in a house about that price range as well.

If you're doing a textured wood grain slab...do the solid navy in a matte laminate solid color. Don't do too much texture.

I think a nicely designed cabinet can be made in many different materials and a laminate may make sense for a slab door.

In the past couple years $800K in my location means 3 bedrooms and your own parking space, pretty average house and condition. $800K in the location I grew up in would buy the two nicest houses in town.

Yes, I mean grain for looks. However, with some actual texture (not just grain) it hides fingerprints which I like a lot too since I have five kids. My house would not be the most expensive in my area, but well above average. It’s 2,800 sq ft now. Remodeling it little by little. Fully remodeled for this size in my area runs around 900k-1.2 mil.
