Swapping rootstocks for Meiwa kumquat

I have a meiwa kumquat from Harris citrus that was grafted to kuharski citrange which is incompatible. I planted a Flying dragon next to it and fused them together so I could cut out the kuharski.

    Interesting thing to do.

    I wonder why Harris would make an uncompatable grafting?.
