We have a nest of birds under our eves. the house will be painted, can i relocate it?

I'm thinking that's not a good idea.......but let's see what others think.

I have read that you could try moving it not too far away (within sight of original location). They may find it. It said they don't have a sense of smell, so they have to see it.

It depends upon the species of bird doing the nesting, and sometimes at what stage they are in the process. If it is a non-native species, such as house sparrows, it can be removed. Native species typically have laws that protect them and penalties for disturbing their nests.
