I would not put unfinished metal in bathroom at all since the humidity will speed up the oxidation for sure as for those fixtures I do not use brass in my designs so can't help there

Hi there: I use Hudson Valley and Mitzi lighting all the time, and have for almost a decade. I love their aged brass finish. I have seen untreated brass faucets that become quite funky: this is not THAT. It's a gorgeous, rich look, and I have used in kitchens and bathrooms, as well as general living spaces. It isn't a bright brass, that sometimes makes you think cheapo 80s, but just deepens a little. I don't have photos from older pieces, I'm afraid, and I'm sorry about that. But I have had literally zero problems, and believe me I would hear if I did!

I love the HVL lines, and recommend them to all my clients. I don't see how you go wrong with their aged brass, unless you made the mistake of polishing it. Love the natural richness of the material, and don't fear it.

Oh sure! I wish I had photos of older fixtures for you. I just realized that I had a HVL black and brass fixture myself, in my pre-remodeled bathroom, for three years. The brass just got slightly softer in color, a little darker. It doesn't corrode, like a faucet might. Use a soft cloth to dust (like I ever did that!!), and it really requires nothing else. They certainly will oxidize. I love aged brass but I'm getting ready to have a brass chandelier removed so I can polish it. I don't want it spanking new and bright, but I don't have to worry about that because I know it will fade so fast. Listen to Patricia's advice about humidity in the bathroom too.
