does this condo need brightening and lightening up as

The picture leaned against the couch is the one I thought would lighten up the room and remove the rug. Should the dark clock go and something lighter go up. I've also included a picture of her bedroom which she wants a new duvet cover for the bed. Should it be floral or something and have the same colors as the rest of the house for flow?

Kitchen she likes aqua, why not try color. The rugs are ok but drab.

I just read it again - if she likes it, buy it. We're at a loss cause we don't know anything about her.

Here's a beauty! if the bed's darker wall seems too dark with aqua/teal, maybe it could be painted.

With the pretty stitching contrast, even beige could do it.

To top it off, a rectangular canvas art above bed.

not sure this is too bright, cause of dark neutral seating.

I like the first rug, because now I’m seeing another chair that’s caramel colored. All those colors are in the rug image. Also looks great with the floor. You can bring in some blue/gray accent colors pillows etc.

I agree that the one we like the most as well

I like the new rug you picked out now it goes with that camel colored tan chair if that's the right color and the new art

Hi everyone, I found these two pics and am wondering what are your thought on them? I also found a white coverlet I thought to go with either of them.

Hi Everdebz, we finally have the bedroom chosen. I'm going to look for a smaller gold pillow or maybe a round one and possibly a bit brighter throw otherwise she loves it and I think it looks great as well. I hope you agree.

Or would a cream coverlet with a rose coloured sheets and a yellow pillow? OMG this is mind boggling!

Pick the throw pillow with color that's in the art or bedding

I like both of the Arts but it just depends which one you think looks better with the bed frame

Janice, lol, it is mind boggling, i’m on the exact same adventure!

I actually like the metal wall art that was previously up with the chosen coverlet. I think it brightens up the room. For the sheets I suggest match the lighter color of the coverlet. Cream? Maybe a couple lighter accent colored pillows. Peach and green??

Here’s some artwork I found a couple have more saturated colors

I think landscape art would give it some depth, something with some color.

Sweet color of bedding with warm yellow is very nice. :) The art's colors are interesting, and are deep in a good way, like the dark wood nightstands. The white art has nice watercolor quality - it's possible that seeing the entire room it's really good. I'd go with either, but I like the rosy/red more. .. and good for you!!

I hope your Mom has good moments there. -deb

It turns out we don't like the pink coverlet because it has no pillow shams and we feel it looks unfinished like that. So we are still on the hunt. She says she would prefer a light coloured coverlet more. I found an ivory one as I think the white is too bright. Also what do you think if the coverlet in the package with either the rectangular pic inyop of the head board or a round mirror.

There is no taupe in the pkged coverlet it's a gold

I like katrina_ellen’s suggestion of landscape art to give more depth to the room.

Is a typical color for bedroom I think.

Have you established if your Mom likes to keep her condo warm or cool?…that could make a difference in choosing the bedding… if she is always cold a duvet and down comforter.. if she is always too hot … the thin coverlet would work… maybe even changing them in the summer and winter?summer

    last modified: 3 years ago

Just an opinion that it's easier to find a great pillow you like, than art that you like and is the right size.

So I'll offer idea for abstract in colors you/she like, then pillow and/or throw in a type that excites her: embroidery, or felt, or velvet...

Even a couple details can matter - a person feels something good with an item or two they 'love' or have a memory reaction toward..... her, any particular memory?

That is so true… I sleep with a tiny down lumbar pillow.. my hubby uses a heavy foam full sized pillow…

This isn't exciting, but brings a pretty color, and also tiny dark like nighstands, sort of 'together'...?

Maybe ask her or you may know if she likes the ocean or mountains or flowers or birds or trees or (?). May help narrow it down? Every subject matter will have color options.

A round or rectangular mirror will reflect the light from the window and brighten the room during the day. A picture with more color will also brighten it up depending on the coverlet you decide on but If she likes the 2 pictures you have posted I would go with one of those.

These two photos from Latest Stories today show how drapes and pillows are another way to bring in florals.

'Sorry' I get so 'choosy' - the soft colors of packaged item you posted seem nice. It was hard for me to take time when it's still in plastic!

The pattern in the pkg. is familiar to me …it is very casual…not really “elegant” in the way your Mom’s room is….it would require lots of changes in the surroundings to fit in…all the bedtop patterns in ffpalms posts are a good start to a cheery room…
