I dont see where one could be placed in the room. If you have your eye on the perfect chair could you put it in your bedroom?

Yes, it is absolutely right that there is a limited space for place an accent chair. Everything is in its proper place in relation to the demands of the space.

I like the idea of ottomans under the table …or maybe I should look for something foldable , that I can put away . Carpet sizing for this room was impossible to get right - so finally just went with something that didn’t go under the couch legs

I think you could put a chair to the left of the fireplace in front of the bookcase, provided you don’t need to access the cabinet frequently.

Or, put the rug under the sectional so all front legs (including the chaise) will rest on it. Right now the rug looks too small and is just floating in the room.

What you do need is a cocktail table/ottoman. I suggest you choose a rectangular one, bench height, preferably leather, and a tray for it.

When company comes and you need extra seating, put the bench in front of the fireplace.

I have a wrought iron Victorian bench that I bought at an estate sale 50 years ago. It has been reupholstered 5 or 6 times. Even though I have plenty of seating in the living room, people always sit on it.

There's a door and pet bed -- is the door used?

I think your TV needs to be lower on the wall over your console. I also like the idea of moving the rug closer to sectional- under the legs in the front. Add a coffee table - maybe something mid-century would look great with your ‘70’s vibe rug.
