Thank you, Windows on Washington Ltd. Any thoughts on how laminate options hold up over time? Wondering if laminate "wears" thin (or worse, off) with repeated use.

Seen some that are installed and a decade+ old. Still look great.

+1. This laminate type is used by several products on the market and has been for years, its proven stuff. Keep in mind that with real stain/finish it will wear and fade like a real wood window would (as opposed to the more common "woodgrain" printed laminates found on vinyl windows), but there would have to be some other type of problem existing for the laminate to wear through or something like that.

Thank you for your comment, @HomeSealed Exteriors, LLC. I was given a sample to try stain & paint on. To my eye, the laminate looks better painted than stained but maybe I didn't put enough coats of stain to achieve a satisfactory depth. Either way, the laminate is very thin, so it got me wondering about how long it would last/look good.

The depth comes in when you add polyurethane. Stain by itself doesn't look great on this material.

As far as the thin material, again, no concern there.
