No browns with your gray house. Love your front door color. Your house appears to be a lighter gray color. Use a dark gray for the stain for the porch. It will look great. When you buy the stain, make sure you buy a stain that is meant for decks.

Thank you! I realize now that the photo I uploaded is not great with the lighting. But it is a light to medium gray.

Do you think that a grayish brown could work, like that Cordovan Brown appears to be? Or really it should be plain old dark gray?

Buy a small can of it and stain a piece of plywood or something and lay it there, and see how you like it. Only way, you will know for sure. I see a new fence too, will you also be staining that? If so, I would want the fence and the porch the same color stain.

I vote for Cordovan Brown - assuming that pic is true to what the stain color really is. There is a LOT of gray in it, which means it would blend nicely with gray siding. On the other hand, a semi-transparent gray stain is going to let some of the wood tone and texture through anyway. What Cat said above - test it and consider fence to match.

Thank you everyone! That second photo is from the home listing. That new fence is now a weathered gray and I'm not going to worry about it. (Need to prioritize!)

Hello again! Cabot seemed to have the best color selection and came recommended to me. I'm down to two solid stain colors, though neither feel "perfect" to me. What do you think?

Cordovan Brown by Cabot. Definitely the right choice. Very happy with the combo (gray house, brown porch).
