I would not want painters on my floors that soon. I would want 8-10 days, and I would want the floors covered before they started painting.

Painters should lay down rosin paper, not drop cloths.

@Jacqui Naud oh this is good advice. What's the reason that drop cloths is not good?

@cat_ky argh I dont know if we can wait that long! I will discuss with the painters and see if their schedule would allow a later starting date

@Imma S. Drop clothes move around and may not totally protect the floor. Ideally, painting walls, etc should be done before the floors. Refinishing wood floors creates a lot of dust, so be sure the surfaces to be painted are thoroughly cleaned before painting.

@Jacqui Naud yeah I had scheduled for the paintings to be done before the floor guys come, but alas the painters were too slow (they promised me 3-5 people but only sent 2) and painting was only half done and I had to bring in the floor guys :(

@Timothy Winzell this is a relief! I'm going to ask them not to use ladders and scaffolds until next week (after the 5 days required to fully cure for mega One). Thanks for your tip about ramboard and thermoply, I will ask them if they can use those.

Even fully cured urethane won't resist force that could scratch it or indent the wood. My guys often wrap ladder legs with a rag and tape to avoid damage.

@Timothy Winzell ah wrap ladder legs with rag is good idea. I will ask the painters to do that. But one thing I should say, my floor guys used bona mega one not high traffic, and mega one takes longer to cure. do you still think Saturday is okay?

Yes. I'm pretty sure I used the Bona TDS from Mega One. Maybe you misconstrued my use of the word "traffic", as in "foot traffic". If I was referring to Bona Traffic I would have capitalized the T, but your initial post clearly mentioned Mega One.

Click on the green highlight in my last post please. The final floor finish is cured by a powerful light. You can roll your refrigetator across it immediately. No holding up other trades for weeks. Probably no stink either.
