I did check! They are not load bearing, already removed. Thank you! I currently have furniture at one end of the and the other, once I remove the half walls, I'll have a gap with no furniture. I like your idea of a longer dining room table!

I second the longer dining room table. Then on the end wall of the dining room, you could add a buffet or china cabinet. Or some big art and a floor plant.

I would bet money that those were load bearing pillars. I like the half walls. Before you remove them, make sure the floor runs under.

I bet the floor doesn't run under the half walls so be cautious there. If it doesn't and you can't find the identical flooring to patch the gaps, take the half walls to the ceiling and create a cased opening between the two rooms.

thank you all for your advice!!! Hugely appreciated. you are correct the flooring doesn't run under the half walls... I do have some extra planks I could patch with or as someone suggested bring the half walls to ceiling... Which do you think would look better? Walls to the ceiling or open? Should I start another discussion :)

I think I would start a new post with your photo showing the way the rooms looks now that you have removed the pillars. I am confused by the box cornice over the dining windows. It doesn’t seems to relate to the drapes at all. Will that be removed?

Here’s a helpful visual about furnishing a long narrow room. You could think of the Library Zone as your dining room. Since your space is only 11.5 ft wide, some creative thinking will be necessary.
