I think it looks great and you should go for it. backsplash is something easy to change down the road if you dont like it. Your designer might be thinking of what most people would like, but your style might be a bit different than hers and thats fine!

Thank you, Lisa. I am thinking to order one box and see how they look. The sample they sent me is extremely small, but the ovals on the regular size are quite large. Also, the tiles visualization is not a perfect representation of what they will look like. If I really realize that they are an eye sore, I will spend the money for returning them. It’s not a mix of contemporary and traditional, it’s a very busy counter stone with a very busy backsplash. I vote no.

That's really not a good tile for your kitchen. For a lot of reasons, including that the pattern is such a large scale, it really doesn't show to good effect in the small amount of wall space you have to give it. You need something quiet, to let the countertop shine, but that doesn't mean you have to go all the way to "flat, uniform, opaque beight." You could use a tile with a little texture, or any interesting shape (picket, chevron, diamond, etc).
