Easy bathroom updates for green bathroom?

Hi Houzz community! We want to do something with this bathroom but aren't sure what. It is a lot of green for us although the tile itself isn't overly dated, there's a lot going on. We inherited it when we bought the house a couple of years ago and now reached the "bathroom update" stage of room renos. We are playing with the idea of painting the wall color, but what color is best? Replacing the vanity? While we wouldn't retile the bathroom (not in budget) perhaps something different for the floor? Hoping you can offer some great ideas. Thank you!

I don't have the talent of many on this forum, but I'll reply so perhaps others will. Three things I would do:

    1. Paint the walls a color similar to the white in the tile.
    2. Change the vanity. It doesn't mesh with room for multiple reasons. I'd select something in a brown wood tone that is a bit more modern. I'm personally not a fan of vessel sinks.
    3. If the budget permits at some point consider replacing the floor tile. Right now the green is overwhelming because the tile is every where. A larger format tile on the floor would break it up a bit. Until then I would use a white rug on the floor to cover up as much as I could.

You could go a richer, deeper wall color. The tiles look like there are some olive elements, but don't try to match. Test out a shade lighter, or a shade darker, from the tiles. A deeper color with the rich  vanity could make the room luxurious. Go with white or maybe gray towels, again working  from the tiles.

Get some large sheet paper, and paint up some sample boards. Make sure to try some of the other tile colors in the lighter ranges as well to see how they look.

Paint, vanity, rug and a new window covering.

Thanks everybody!  I totally agree the tile on the floor overwhelms, I'm going to see what we can do there.  I never considered going darker on the walls either, I can see where that might be the way to go.  And I completely agree on the vanity and the functional yet unattractive shades.  You gave me some good ideas and I'm definitely open to more.

I love the tile! All of it -- floor and walls. I also would go darker on the walls. For the vanity, I'd go with a floating vanity like this: https://www.parviz.ca/bathroom-vanities/modern-floating-vanity

I wouldn’t go dark. i prefer light and airy.

If it were mine, I would consider putting a wainscoting over the wall tile. Replace the vanity.

I would go with this type

I like the open vanity so that you can see the floor beneath it. It makes the room feel bigger than it is. I would just lighten it up with white paint and a new white countertop. I’d also hang pretty curtains, possibly cafe curtains, so that you have privacy but still have light coming in. I’d hang canvas art above the toilet with an image you love to look at to give the room some of your personality. I’d paint the walls white and use white curtains to bounce the maximum amount of light around the room.

It would be easiet to leave it, but it wouldn't be major to have it removed. Can you show us a pix of that wall? Also the wall with the vanity.

Sure thing...the tile is everywhere.  I do like the mirror though.

A nice darker wall color, changed the vanity top to white & added a fluffy white rug.

I also think a very good tile guy could probably remove the tile on the wall outside the shower, paint the entire wall the darker color:

I like the tile as is, but changing the mirror and vanity (more utilitarian and longer) would be transformative and enhance the the tile. Suggest fresh white walls, sconses and a fun window film. Embrace the tile!

I like the tile and wall color but it’s a lot so everything else has to be simple. I would replace the vanity-maybe something white? This would be expensive but a frameless glass door would be less visual clutter. A plain white floor rug in front of the vanity to cover the tile a bit. Replace blinds with a Roman shade or something solid to minimize other lines.

I think you can leave that wall and wainscot everywhere else.

I think its not that the tile is everywhere, its just that I’ve never seen the mosaic on both floor and wall.

The darker green looks nice. And maybe just changing the vanity.

But, its up to you how much you want to change it.

You could go budget friendly an get colorful shower curtains there, like this:

    Going darker…..

Change the countertop to a medium or light gray, creamy white walls, creamy white rugs and towels. Some art too.
