Electrician cut hole in floor joist – is this right?
I had an electrician in to do a number of jobs, one was to move the internet cable to the other side of the room.
To do that he had to get past this floor joist, so he cut a 45 degree hole. Does this look correct/to code? It seems close to the edge especially with the angle.

For A, B, C, and D, tell us the size and length of each and describe what it is.

This is a 2x8 joist, 12’ span.
B in your image is another wire.
D in your image is part of the basement drop ceiling system.

Same electrician made these 3 holes in another joist to get wire to the level above elsewhere in the house, all holes 45 degree angles.
They are more towards the centre of the joist than the first joist in my original post.

Chainsaw-wielding plumbers and HVAC installers are overwhelmingly the greater hazard.
