If you bought the Napoleon Bee Flatware

If you don’t saw the Napoleon Bee dinnerware they pictured it with and have felt tempted to try it, I'll save you the trouble. I ordered a set for a friend who has the flatware and is moving next month. She loves bees and has a bee in her company logo. I know she had seen and liked the dishes, so I thought it would be a nice housewarming gift for her. Ordered a set and had them sent to her.

My friend sent me photos as she opened the box -- the "bees" were kind of triangular blobs with wing, head or body definition. They reminded me more of pantry moths than bees. Mikasa required her to take a photo of every piece of the set and then had the gall to say they showed bees on all the pieces. I saw a fruit bowl that suggested a bee, but this is what the plates looked like --

They look more like pantry moths to me. Not what I want on my plates. And Mikasa wasn't very good about taking them back. Save yourself the trouble.

Thanks for the PSA. I have the LaRochere bee glassware and these look more like pears or someone's nose to me! Unfortunate that Mikasa's customer service was lacking.

I bought the bee flatware and returned it. I was so disappointed in it. I agree. To call those blobs bees is a stretch.

Rubyclaire -- noses! LOL . Yes, I see that too, but still not something most folks would want to see on their plate. I have glasses with the dragonfly and some with shells. I love those glasses.

Mikasa told my friend she had to ship them back with a return label that wasn't included but shipping would not be refunded unless they were defective -- and they were saying these were not defective. I had to write, got a phone number from the reply and called, then asked to get a supervisor involved before they sent a return shipping label and told me they would issue a refund. The person on the other end of the phone appeared to be working from home (which I am fine with) but struggling to figure out how to deal with a problem beyond telling me two agents had already looked at it. I think she was one of them. Anyway -- think we have it resolved.

The dishes really don't look any better on the Mikasa site.

What a disappointment and a waste of your time.

Definitely a nose! Thanks for the heads up.

    I see a rocket ship!

Sorry this was so disappointing. The close up on their website looks somewhat similar shape but absolutely like the actual product lost all of the definition visible in the picture. You can see legs and outlined torso and antenna in the photo on their site. Honestly it looks like the plates you received have a reverse stamp vs raised pattern.

Even before I read any comments, I thought it looked like an impression of a nose! Ugh.

Glad to read you received resolution and a refund. It really bothers me when i have to expend a lot of my time getting something resolved like this.

Blfenton and Prickly, both my friend and I had seen photos online that are clearer than the one you found before I bought the dishes. After she received them, we went back and found some of those photos had been removed and most of the ones we did find were not as clear -- either the stamping or the clarity of the photo, maybe both. To me, that suggests the company is aware of a quality issue and trying to sell remaining stock as first quality rather than marking them down as clearance. I don't know if they added too much glaze there or a stamping that is supposed to create the relief on the bee was missed. She has china she likes so I'm getting her serving pieces to go with that instead. She is delighted to have them because she feels they will entertain more in the new house. Things have a way of working out.

Thank you for sharing. I was very tempted to buy this dinnerware but I also own the La Roche bee glassware and was on the fence as I though it might be too matchy.

I bought the bee flatware…it’s not the best quality flatware…but at least it looks like a bee! That looks like an upside down uterus.😂

    LOL @ Nini!!

that's exactly what I thought too!!

    How very disappointing.

And even more so in the customer service from Mikasa. Sad.

Nini, LOL! Bloated ticks and pantry moths to space shuttles and noses to uteruses, It gets funnier, but they don't get any better. I'm glad everyone else sees things other than bees. It's been good for a few laughs and that was needed after dealing with Mikasa's CS.

I know my friend has a set of bone china for entertaining and when the bees turned out to be a bust, she was looking for the photos online and discovered her bone china has been discontinued. We were able to get her a couple of serving pieces she doesn't have before they were gone.
