Advice on TV wall please- new entertainment center, or console, etc?

Hello!

I would love some advice on what to do with the wall the TV is hung. The room is about 11.5 ft x 19 ft. Has leather couch and love seat, electric fireplace (I’ve grown very tired of), and sliding glass door to patio that takes up a full wall. I’ve included pictures of room and a picture of more modern electric fireplace we put in when we finished basement.

I fell in love with white wood built in shelves but I’m sure hiring someone would be out of budget (very low budget of $1-2k). We are not handy at all so finagling IKEA shelves, etc, into built ins wouldn’t work. I’m not against a large entertainment center (not sure of color- white or dark wood). Some I’ve priced are almost as long as the wall (about 9ft) so it would be close to built in look. I also thought about a long console and floating selves on either side of TV.

Most neighbors keep their couches on the wall to the right of TV, and the back wall opposite the TV. I disliked having to walk through the room to get to sliding door, so I moved the opposite couch up and put a runner behind it to 1) make the room more square and 2) offer a direct route to backyard without walking in front of guests.

Thank you I’m advance for your time and advice!

I would lower your TV to a better viewing height and move the fireplace to the short wall next to the doors.

Don't use the light from the fan. Purchase a round end table and place a nice table lamp on the end table. The light will be much easier to live with.

Here is the proper height for your TV

Here is a diagram what illustrates the height for the table and lamp combined.

All your wall art is hung too high in this room, the rug is too small and doesn't have much color to punch up the area. Here are some options.

    Rug should be 8x19

Here's a guide that shows you how much space should be allowed from the back of the sofa to the wall art.

I like your furniture placement. Creating a hall behind the coach, great idea.

You need to think about the entertainment center and measure the depth, some of them take up a lot floor space.

If money is an issue consider second hand furniture and think about using a buffet or dresser under the TV. When using a long dresser you have lots of storage. Whatever you choose make sure the piece is wider/longer than the TV.

Thank you so much!!! Your ideas are very appreciated!!! Below is pic of rug that is in there. It has splashes of green (ties to kitchen) and lite blue (ties to gray living/dining walls that look blue lol).

I thought I was following the rug rule that allowed for it to be in front of couches. To be honest it was a free rug, and matches the dining room and living room rugs and runner, I thought I was good keeping with the theme lol

I actually just put this end table in my Amazon cart. Would something like that work? I have an extra lamp, shown in the living room pic to the right of couch I could put on top of end table.

Is an entertainment/ build in look completely out of question? Think it would make room feel small?

I will definitely move the pictures lower!!

I thought I posted and it seems like mine and a couple of comments are gone. I like my viewing height a little higher than the diagram, eye level not at the middle of the screen but two-thirds of the way down from the top. Get a TV stand or console for a tabletop TV. Saves the hassle of a wall mount.

Thank you everyone!! You’ve saved me thousands with your console suggestions, as apposed to built ins/shelves. Now I’m excited to be on a mission for the perfect darker wood console, that is longer than about 60 inches (length of 65 inch Tv)!!

We will probably hang TV over console. Does anyone have any suggestions for what to put on the walls either side of TV?

(When I originally posted, it seemed like it didn’t go through. I posted again and now I don’t know how to delete one. So I have two identical posts going, sorry for confusion!)

Any thoughts on a console with build in electric fireplace, similar to our basement?

Okay I thought it was weird with two posts but if you're stumped then we get it.

A wall-hung cabinet will do the job.

Comment on your new arrangement: bring the sofa back toward the door as far as you can. Get a floor lamp in that corner.

Do something fun with the front door...maybe paint it black.

Don't match the rugs. Let the entry rug be something special. Even a simple sisal will make an impact.

No need for two ottomans. Consider replacing the black one with something else. One with tempered glass would, visually, take up less space.

Thank you everyone!!!!! I never even realized the 2 ottomans could be overkill lol taking one out is nice. I still have to move pictures down, and I’ve been on mission for long TV console. Still torn on having long electric fireplace incorporated.

With the proper height TV stand or console it would sure save the hassle of mounting the TV (if you still have the legs that came with it). Why is the armchair still in the corner? Move it in front of the slider and face it toward the TV. You could then have two ottomans if you rotated the rectangular one 90 degrees and moved a little further from the TV.

Hi tracefloyd- thanks for comments! I’m not a big fan of the single chair/ottoman facing TV. I like having it in corner facing other couches to promote a conversational area. If I turn forwards TV the chair back will be towards one couch :/
