Need sectional sofa area rug ideas!

Custom Grey 115x90 sectional sofa in future family room to be situated near cream tiled fireplace and Cumulus Cloud (BM paint color) walls.
I need area rug ideas! Will be placed under sectional and coffee table.
Don’t want grey or stripey rugs that would match the sofa. I’m thinking cream?
Welcome all your opinions :)

P.S. Floors are natural oak hardwood with slight sheen.

Please show the whole space . IMO something with some color would be nice and also with the gray and cream in it too. I need to see the whole room with all the furniture that is going in there

Your room and sectional are neutral. So any color would work. Just pick some color from rug for throw pillows and décor.

    Some options

The room is long- 12.5” x 30.5”. I should’ve posted this photo. The sofa comes with the pillows in the previous photo but I’m allowed to change those out.
This may be the only rug in the room. I’m not sure. I may have a little play spot behind the sofa for my little son.
The neighboring room will be the dining room.
I’m digging the Nourison rug- never would’ve picked it for myself.

Pretty floors, they might look great with it:

Of course computer monitors aren’t always exact, and we’re not seeing everything together, so I can’t say for sure … but I’ve had good luck buying rugs online.

ETA: I just did a quick search and it might be less at other sites.

This is my issue. Do I go ‘plain’ or ‘busy’?
Also I’m getting a chocolate floating mantel installed above the fireplace. And what you don’t see are two ornate mahogany bi-fold closet doors on each side. So not much in the house will have black in it.
But that rug really does pull all the colors in.
I’m definitely open to getting a rug online.

I think a solid/plain would look fine, too.

It might be worth waiting until the room is more finished, and you have all your furniture chosen. See from there. You might decide you’d rather have something more neutral and bring in patterns/colors with pillows, art, etc. Or keep everything monochromatic. Lots of directions you could go.

I’ve done both — found a rug I loved so much, I designed the room around it, and other times just wanted a more neutral rug as background.

I’m a pattern lover, though, so usually go that route. :)

But from what you say, my rug suggestion might have too much black for this room. I don’t know the look you’re wanting.

    The mahogany doors sound nice!

Inspiration. I hope this helps you visualize.
I hope I’m not swaying you one way or the other.

I love the rug Jinx found - and with a “ chocolate floating mantel” , wow ! I think the pattern with no borders, and unlike a solid/ plain, visually expands the width of your room, which is a big plus, imo. “ …plain or busy….?” I would say plain or INTERESTING in this case. By the way , New Zealand wool combined with nylon is the best for wear/ durability and beauty. New Zealand wool just can’t be beat. It does not shed. Your floors are gorgeous. I would not hesitate to go for this rug and make it the jumping off point from which your whole room could evolve. Please share with us your finished room. Best of luck.

If your mantle and mahogany choices are staying- at least for foreseeable future- I’d get them in place first, but meanwhile “ collect “ rugs in your inspo book - some plain, some patterned. If you have kids you may not want a solid cream rug!
I do love that patterned rug as it makes the floor color look great yet blends warm and cool for gray walls/ furniture and warm floors , warm wood furniture. So much more interesting and lively than gray gray gray.
I tone who thinks bits of black are ok with dark brown furniture or vice versa, not all matchy, and it’s not hard to repeat a few black accents. OTOH you might find a similar rug with chocolate brown.
Meanwhile if you want to play with some colors and patterns IRL you could find some pillows that are returnable and see how you’re leaning.
Pillows can be found cheaply but then may be … cheap. I always try to get removable zipper covers in fabrics that feel good, can be washed, and use feather inserts ( although some folks prefer poly fills), and & try to find ones I love looking at, then I can keep pillows fresh & switch covers occasionally by storing covers themselves.

The Nourison rug is going to be hard to beat! It’s opened up the possibilities for me and would influence everything else.

Pillows are included with the sofa as shown in original pic but half of them are black and the design center said I can change them into a different color…we’ll see.
I have to be realistic that the rug will get a few crumbs and stains on it.
I was eyeing this Boho rug last night but not sure it’s realistic for a family room.

Lastly. How large should the rug be? The general rule is that it goes under the front legs of sofa.
L sectional 115x90. The 115 is under those 2 windows.

What a beautiful rug! I love that design. I can’t say about upkeep, but it would definitely be pretty in there. :)

I’ve never seen that site, am enjoying browsing. I did see that they offer samples.

As far as size … what other furniture will you have? Any chairs, etc?

I may be too practical but I’d be leery of the multi- level rug. I know there s lot of interest in adding “ texture “ , but, underfoot? I’d be concerned about collecting some textures in there all right.

I am curious how they wear, HU. I’ve never seen anyone post who has had one.

I think I’d prefer a rug like that more in a bedroom than main living area (unless I had no kids/pets).

    Too funny lol.
Makes you want to run your fingers through it, don’t it?
This isn’t too kid friendly I suppose. I’ll bookmark it for now.

I don’t know if this comment & photo will be seen but I just wanted to thank Jilly from the Dec 2022 recommendation for this rug. I went ahead and purchased it and we love it! Thanks Jilly! You’ve got good taste.

For wall maybe one of these on the large wall would add some texture and contrast to your space :) Here are a few abstract pieces for you to consider..
