Steve, how does New Zealand Lemonade perform as an indoor/outdoor citrus? (fruit quality, I mean)

The fruits seem to taste just as good as the outdoor inground trees. They produce a lot less fruits and the fruits take a lot longer to ripen. The trees produce so many flower that the trees drop leaves and new growth that the trees have flowered to death.. Potted NZL's need much more lighting indoors. I break most of the flower buds off when they are first visible. I let a few go through the blooming stage to produce fruit. The fruits mostly all fall off. I do not provide the trees with high powered grow lights. Too expensive.

Picked another ripe Fukushu kumquat. This one is on C35

In a teaspoon. It was tasty

My lemons are overdue to be picked. The tangerine has another month to reach full sweetness.

It was slightly sweet with no flesh or seeds and had a very slight biter after taste

@poncirusguy6b452xx my indoor NZL did exactly what you just described--put out a ton of flowers, then dropped like 50% of its leaves. Any advice to help it recover? I'm just hoping to make it to spring.

They need a tremendous amount of light. I also pick most of the flowers off when they are the size of a pin head so the tree doesn't waste energy on them.

This is today's harvest: I went out between raindrops and gathered up the fruit that had been wind-blown and fell on the ground. As long as I was out there I picked all the rest off the Kumquat tree too since there weren’t very many.

There are quite a few still-green Key Limes hanging, but that’s good for a longer harvest. The Lemons are all ripe but they’ll hang until needed. I also have Meyer Lemons that are ripe and they’ll hang for a while longer.

I usually make a Kumquat Marmalade from the fruit, but I had a huge harvest last year and still have jars left. I will probably send most of the Kumquats to my grandson who loves them whole. They are just the right size to pop in one’s mouth - orangy-sweet on the outside and orangy-sour in the inside.
