living room reno coffee tables

Almost finished renovation but need new coffee table set. The current brown ones are old, wrong color and style but having trouble finding something that works with the new open concept. Any ideas?

Right now you have a lot of square furniture , even without the coffee table and side tables. I would look for more round shaped tables. They don't have to be a set necessarily. Something with a different color than black would also look nice. This could be an option for a coffee table or separately used as end tables. The side tables also need to be a bit shorter than the couch so when you reach your arm out you can plop down a drink without having to raise your arm uncomfortably.

It’s goint to be tricky, given the dark choices, as I‘d be trying to lighten the space up a bit and also pulling in the flooring. I think a rug would help in the coordination of light and dark. Be sure side tables are not too high (yours are) and a large square or round coffee would work better. Light drapery and art (hung lower) would also help lighten and layer room. It’s always a domino effect when adding something new and hope this helps.

I agree with Maureen and like her examples.

I wouldn’t use a material on top that looks like your counters and dining table …. it would be too much.

I'd go with a rustic modern look coffee that has an open metal base so it's not too bulky looking. And you don't have to match the tables. You can get different side tables, including, possibly, ones that have a sculptural look.

And P.S. You need a rug in the living space. Find something with some color in it. Like this, perhaps:

Maureen-the picture with the two nesting tables-where are those from? The picture underneath says IKEA but I can’t find the nesting tables there.

To make the room visually more interesting it's good to have some circular shapes to give some relief from all the rectangles in the room. Here is my suggested layout for your room.

I imagine that sometimes you'd like to not have the overhead lights turned on. The table lamps will provide you with some warm ambient light to provide a cozy appearance to the room.

These tables below are large enough in scale to compete with your seating but have legs that lighten the heaviness in your room.

I really like the first tables under your comments. Do you know what store they’re from? And thanks for all the suggestions. Especially the layout ideas
