How to clean Dark Bronze Ashley Norton Hardware

Hi, on the website it says to use water only--but I'd like to clean our knobs and pulls of germs especially when a family member has a cold/bug. I can't reach the company on the weekend and thought I'd ask in case anyone knows. Also, in case anyone else is buying the "living finish" patinas, I did not know until now that you can apply wax to preserve the finish. Ours is already worn on the handles we use most after 6 months.

2.1 Bronze - Dark Bronze (BZ) and Light Bronze (LT)
1. Wipe clean with a soft, non-abrasive cloth dampened with clean water.
2. Wipe dry with a soft, non-abrasive cloth.
3. Apply a light coating of liquid Carnauba wax to the product with a soft cloth.

Perform this periodically to preserve the original patina. Frequency will depend on specific conditions and location of the installation.
Important: Do not use any abrasive or non-abrasive cleaners or solvents, whether chemical or organic, to clean the products as they may degrade or remove the patina completely.
