a 9x12 would look skimpy. You want all the furniture on the rug... at least the front legs of everything.

9x12 will work but the console table will not be on the rug. See image. Note the two side tables just don't work in that location.

Thank you! BeverlyFLADeziner and Lyn Nielson do you have any other recommendations where to put side tables? Also, what size coffee table could work? Would a 36" round work? The one there looks really large to me.

In the last photo Beverly posted that coffee table is too big for the furniture arrangement. If you sit in those chairs you won't be able to cross your legs. You need to mock up the room.

We moved into our new house last year. I used most of my existing upholstered pieces, but mixed stuff that had been in different rooms before. I just got my new coffee table this past week, only after I had placed all the furniture and knew exactly how much space I had. I have a large room with a 10x14 rug and a 48" wide table would have been too wide and limited space to cross legs.

I would move the rug a bit closer to the wall of windows, to give a bit more clearance with the staircase.

How often will you use that sliding door?

Thank you! The sliders will be used very often! It’s a main entrance. The sofas are 37” wide wide, so not too deep. This is the mock up I have. The room is 18x20 but the 11x14 rug would be close to stairs and entrance.
