I would remove the mirror. It is too large and the gold doesn't complement the room. I would get an oval coffee table. Get end tables that are the height of the arms of the sofa. The wicker one is a good height just not right for this room. Get another lamp like the brass one so the 2 ends match. Choose an accent color for the room and change out the pillows. Everything is too beige right now. Art where the mirror is would be better (art.com minted.com greatbigcanvas.com)

Personally, I agree with JCK910. But I would reduce the number of throw pillows to at least 1/2 or 1/3 of what you currently have. Where do these pillows go when someone sits on the sofa or chairs? Put excess pillows in a large basket in another room to bring out when kids want to play stepping stones.

In case you're keeping the mirror, then here are some suggestions:

--Move sofa away from mirror about a foot so mirror seems less overwhelming.

I’m not a fan of red, though you can see some red pillows there. Want to break up the beige a bit with brighter pillows. Maybe blues or greens?

I like the mirror in the dining room. It looks interesting. Nice rooms. I think round or square for a coffee table.

Celery picking that coffee table and Amanda suggesting matching lamps is good advice. You have to talk your husband into rotating the mirror because it looks weird the way it is hung to be honest.

Blue is the complementary color of yellow/gold so go for it. The mirror is a very bold choice so if you get bold with a FEW gold accents I think you'll have a great space. You bought it so make it work for you instead of against you.

It was a big statement piece that kinda needs to run the show in that room. Although blue is the definitive complementary color of yellow other colors can be made to work. You could get another mirror... one that is not so eye popping.

I removed the mirror, hung up a piece of art and bought a new side table and lamp. I still need a new coffee table. Should I paint the walls a new color?

Also I hate the carpet but can’t replace right now.
