Dual Mount Sink Installed as Undermount in Quartzite

Hello, we recently purchased quartzite for our kitchen remodel. When I mentioned I was considering a dual mount sink, to be undermounted, the sales rep said the fabricators prefer not to use dual mount. I'm waiting to hear back from her for further clarification after emailing the attached pic of the sink to her. Thought I would check in here to maybe get some insight or guidance whether this type of sink can be used without problems. I like the color, accessories, and the right side drain so I can fit waste basket in 36" sink base. Thank you :)

Be careful about light colors. I purchased a Blanco Silgranite white sink for my mother years ago. Being Italian, there was always tomatoes or tomato sauce in the sink at times. The sink bottom stained and bleach would not even take it out. I have heard the darker colors do much better.

Rachiele Cusom Sinks, thanks, I was concerned about that but recent articles online saying quartz doesn't stain. I've been living with my black granite sink for the last 7 years and in my new kitchen I'm going totally opposite with light colors. I don't think a dark sink will look right with my quartzite. The darkest I would consider is the concrete color in the Karran sink. But I really want an off white or Bisque color. Do you know if your mother cleaned the sink right away or let the red sauce stay for hours? Seen so many beautiful kitchens depicted in these forums with nice light sinks.

Thank you Raimondi. I do have some color samples coming by FedEx from Elkay. I bought my black granite Franke sink from Lowe's 7 years ago and haven't had a problem, but I haven't seen any feedback on the Allen + Roth sinks so I may just forget that one. I'm pretty sure I saw an Elkay with offset drain. The other one I was considering from Lowe's is Karran. Do you know if they are good quality?

Tell your fabricators to get a clue and cut the cutout so you have a slight positive reveal. Throw the clips that came with the sink in the trash and strap your sink in place. No blocking either.

Hercules Universal Sink Harness or Sink Strap. You won't have any problems from the way the sink is mounted.

@Joseph Corlett, LLC, Does a positive reveal mean the countertop sticks out a bit into the sink? That is how my current sink in a different house is mounted. In reading some other posts, I am getting leary of a light colored sink due to chance of staining although I love the look. Are certain brands more stain resistant than others? I don't let food sit in the sink. I'm also wondering if quartz is a bad idea for us vs granite which we currently have. Occasionally I wash my small dog in the sink as I can't physically lean over a bathtub to wash him and I worry about quartz getting scratched by the dog's nails. Thanks so much for your input.

No, a positive reveal means the sink flange is exposed. This is best because the sink protects the bottom of the stone and makes a perfect seal between the stone and sink flange.

A negative reveal is when the stone overhangs the sink. This makes a hard-to-clean-crud ledge and leaves the bottom of the stone prone to chipping. A flush reveal creates an elongated silicone joint that frays which becomes contaminated, ugly, and unsanitary.

Elkay Quartz Luxe is the most dense composite and least likely to stain.

There isn't a dog nail on the planet that will scratch a quartz sink. It takes a diamond blade to trim quartz sinks.
