Help decorating long narrow open plan kitchen, dining and living room

My duplex has a very awkward, long living room that leads directly into an open kitchen. things feel so cluttered and the flow just doesnt work with my current setup. I’d really love some input. We just moved in, so dont mind the mess please.

We do have a table next to the TV thats a bit hard to see, its up against the wall as there was nowhere else to put it.

If i need to add better photos I will.

IMO you have too much stuff in the space . Waht do you NEED to make the space useable? The pics are not great and what is the item in the bottom pic with what looks like a blanket on it? I need to be able to read all the measurements please You do know this is a US site so ideally feet and inches please I do not care I am in Canada Show all the windows and the kitchen space tooPost all of that in a comment here do not start another post.

Are you looking for a way to divide the space up better? Change the vibe? Do you own this space? Are you going to renovate? How do you use the space or expect to use the space primarily?

Where is the front door? The double doors?

Do you have any budget for replacing some pieces? Are you allowed to paint? The room is so dark--one window, dark floor, dark cabinets, and way too much dark furniture. The gray is so gloomy with all that dark furniture. That room needs warm white walls that coordinate with the cabinets.

    I suggest the following:

--Move your living room furniture towards the kitchen area with the upholstered chair facing the window and front door.

--Get a small round dining table and put it at the window. Imagine this only minus the banquette. Putting your table there utilizes that space. Drop a clear pendant over the table to let maximun light show through. Ikea has very affordable white tulip tables. Get comfortable, padded dining chairs that can be pulled into the living room. Yep, it means walking from the kitchen a ways with dishes, but that space is wasted right now. A dining table in front of a window is very cozy.

--Pull the rug under the sofa so there's a straight, pathway from front door all the way to the back.

--Replace massive coffee table with nesting one, up on legs, light top, round shape. This idea:

That's all you have room for.

Now that I see @elcieg, that looks good, too, though I still like the idea of using that window space for a lovely dining spot. Start an Ideabook for "shotgun houses." They're very narrow with kitchen in the back. Note the white walls in elcieg's photo. Get rid of the gray walls--so depressing.

Thank you all so much! The furniture was all from our old house so it definitely doesnt match well with our new place. I love the shotgun house setup and im going to start looking for inspiration there! You’re all super helpful
