How would you search for this type of placemat?

We use placemats every night when we eat at the kitchen table. Now it's usually just my husband and I. I've had these placemats forever and they are starting to look a little worse for the wear. I like them because they don't wrinkle and wash like a dream. I'd like to get more of the same type but have searched a lot with no results for this same type.

Maybe try a search for hand woven placemats?

Google search can help. Another friend on here can explain how to use the Google app by putting a picture like you have here on a google site. if there is a hit a picture of it will come up and where you can find it. it's quite remarkable and many know how to do it. hold on. i'll look too. my advice is try ebay. Yup! i have replaced shoes i love with brand new ones.

I Googled "woven plaid placemats" and dozens of very similar images appeared. It shouldn't be at all difficult to find replacements.

I have these. I bought them years ago at Shop-Ko which is now out of business. Maybe they are " rustic, woven" placemats?

"Madras-style placemats" as a google seach brought up a motherlode.

Thank you all so much. I did try searching hand woven, even though I was certain that these are machine made. Lots of hits and lovely placemats but a lot advised hand washing. Not going to happen here for placemats. I did find some on A that suggested either wiping off spills or using a brush and soapy water which I guess I could do. Maybe the ones I have were not supposed to be machine-washed either, I don't remember. Think I will order the ones from A listed as "Red-A Hand Woven with 100% Cotton Placemats Colorful Placemats Braided Ribbed Durable Heat-Insulation Table Mats Set of 6,Rainbow" I have an Amazon gift card begging to be used.

If those don't work out, I've used these for decades and they are indestructible. (It is possible that the quality of the newer version might not be the same.)

Nekotish: i hope you can see them.. Comcast is fixing outages and it may not go through.but the above address could lead you to a more specific description.

Thanks @Maggie200. I was able to see your link. Lots of nice ones although I am anti-fringe on anything! @deegw - those are really nice, do you machine wash/dry them? I feel like a plaid or a pattern is better at hiding spills or splashes. If it were only me I could use my placemat for a week or two easily without washing but my husband manages to splash or spill something at every meal! I love him anyway.

The type of fabric/ weave is called rep weave. It is a warp faced weave.

Try looking for rep weave placemats.

Taking notes because we have some placemats that must be at least 15 years old and still ( so far) look pretty decent. I do wash them but flat dry them ( I never tried putting them in the dryer).

I keep thinking it would be nice to get something fresh and new, but as I said, so far so good. They have a good weight and don't really wrinkle, and wash up pretty nicely. ( some of us use ketchup a lot and don't always do things neatly).

I had the same problem. My set of woven placemats(used mostly on the patio) needed to be replaced and I had trouble finding something similarly thick and able to machine wash. I did find what I was looking for at Kohls. It was a few years ago, but these look the same(although different colors)

Thanks, carol. I have the same placemats as nekotish, plaid, mine are deep red. Mine are a good 25 years old, still looking good. Your link shows some more handwoven-looking but also the very even, consistent like nekotish has. I’ll be browsing!

'rep weave placemats', as suggested by daki, and 'cotton ribbed placemats' bring up a lot of similar results too.

I would try adding Machine Washable to your search criteria. I searched vintage woven plaid placemats and the first ones that came up on ebay say machine washable. Probably not your colors but I didn't search further: woven placemats

Nekotish, I put the quilted placemats in the washer and dryer and they are fine.

They are called woven cotton placemats. I got mine at Target--they're the windowpane style but what you have is plaid or checkered plaid. C&F Home is the brand.

I do machine wash them. They're pretty thick. I lay them flat to dry though.

I have some very similar to that from Cost Plus. I guess it's called World Market now.

    Definitely Rep Weave.

I don't know about your plaid, but I will include 'no iron' or 'wrinkle free' in my search terms.

Our breakfast table where we eat all our meals when its just the two of us is glass. My every day plates are porcelain and its a little clanky and loud without place mats. I look for colors that are not so bright as to attract curious hummingbirds coming too close the the garden window there to investigate, and no iron. Straight from the dryer to smoothly on the table.

They wash so easily, I wash them often. I looked for name brands for you just now and they are illegible with the frequent washings ;(

I see them at thrift stores all the time, many like new.

I love those. I used to have straw place mats. They were not the thin ones I see now, the were at lease a 1/2 inch thick and a flower type pattern. (1970)

Different colorway but this gets you to some options with lots of solids too - not as forgiving as a plaid, that's for sure! This weave wears like iron - I have foot wiping mats in that weave that are at least 25 years old - wash/dry and back to work.

Good selection on the ones DLM posted. Too bad they don't have the autumn color in the check.

I’m almost certain I’ve bought similar plaid ones at PB or W-S in the past. The plaid ones I bought at PB were a red/green Christmas item but look very similar to yours. I still use them.

edited to add, i think Pier 1 also had similar placemats

I have these placemats I just love, but they are quite faded. I see a few made out of the same material but such awful colors! Still looking.

These are pretty and almost the same colour range: amazon

You could look up "Woven Placemats" on Etsy as well, but most of them may be hand made so you'll pay a bit more.

I have the same type of fabric, although solid color - bought at Kroger. I machine wash and dry them also, although they don't get the use yours do.
