Wallpaper experts! Will this wallpaper show seams ?

Hi

i am trying to choose a wallaper for my dining room. I like this one, it is a metallic textured, with horizontal textured lines. by York called Shining Sisal. its sort of close to a faux grasscloth look, bur not labeled as a grasscloth ( if that makes sense)

I don‘t like how the seams are visibke once installed with real or even faux grasscloth.

I had 1 wallapper installers tell me I will see the lseams.

I had a second installer me I will not see the seams

The First customer service rep I called at York said I will see the seams.

Then she followed up with an email saying another employee at York told her I will not see them

The store that sells wallpaper said I will not see the seams. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I cannot get a straight answer. Can any expert or member that perhaps has this wallpaper chime in and let me know your experience with it? Thanks so much!!

Yes, you will see some seams, as you would with any textured/grasscloth wallpaper. Here's what it might look like.

I don't find the seams objectionable, but you might.

Thank you mer03 ! Yes, I like the vertical

too, they both have a subtle shimmer/ metallic finish to them The pics dont show the detail that well. I am glad to hear they wont show seams, as they are also pretty like my first. .choice was. I love the color of the first one, but the other are somewhat similar.

Remember what I did for a living. You will see the seams unless you have the most experienced wallpaper hanger who can find the repeat. (Secret: Not likely)

No you won't see seams with a vertical stripe.

PS I still prefer the one you showed us the other day that could be hung vertically or horizontally. But of course I don't have to live with it! ;)

    Thanks cpartist .

do you think my favorite one, the first choice, shining sisal , could be hung vertically and avoid the seams sunce the texture would then be verical as opposed to horizontal? I am not sure how to tell if that is possible. Each roll it is 21 inch wid X 33 feet long

my husband was’t crazy about the one you liked best. I liked the bluer one out of the 2 colors offered, but the white part looks very off white, almost dirty/ dingy looking. The gray choice just feels very heavy . I dont know that I would be happy with it

I have a york faux grasscloth in my office and in a bathroom or two. Depending on the angle of the lighting, i can see some of the seams, but nothing objectionable. just note, that the installation instructions required that you alternate every other strip, i e. one strip cut end up, the next, cut end down, all the way through.

I have never seen grass cloth done where you did not see the seams but this is fake but IMO to be on the safe side do the vertical if hung well no seams

The charm of grass cloth wall paper IS the seams. Sort of like linen or raw silk. The slubs ARE the appeal. I just had wonderful sea grass backed with a gold metallic paper installed in a bedroom alcove. The star of the room. AND the seams? Obviously BEAUTIFUL. If you don’t like the seams, chose another paper.

No because the width is only 21" wide. If you try and hang it so the stripe is vertical, you'll still need to seam it every 21" but now it will be 21" seams horizontally.

Also note that the grasscloth wallpaper Sabrina showed looks to be 54" wide which means a heck of a lot less seams than a 21" wide wallpaper.

Gor it cpartist thanks you, makes perfect sense.

Im glad you like your new wallpaper ptreckel. Sounds like a beautiful space for you t o enjoy.

Im not fond of the obvious seams , so yes, I agree, I am trying to find another option. I have a few horizontal textured wallpapers that I am looking into that may be better.

Hello all. I’m trying to do a vinyl wall paper that mimics grass cloth like texure. I also don’t want to see seams.

The original wallpaper I bought is attached and after reading this thread in worried seams will show because it’s a horizontal pattern.

I’ve attached an option 2 and option 3 pattern. It seems because option 2 has a vertical pattern that this will hide the seams. Is that correct?

Option 3 im not sure but it’s also a darker wallpaper and the pattern seems to be horizontal and vertical would either of these qualities cause seams to show?
