Reflect TV in mirror in home gym?

Getting ready to fit out new basement home gym, 14'x17'. Will have limited equipment - major use will be following workout videos. One of the 14' walls will be mostly mirror. Would it work to put a large TV on the opposite wall and follow videos reflected in the mirror?

Just remember it is all reversed . Why not a TV that drops from the ceiling instaed .That is a nice sized gym so pretty sure you can figure out a better way to watch TV.

Apple is just about to release a AR headset that will float a TV screen in front of you. Hopefully that will be in the next month or so. I would wait to see what it looks like. I use the Oculus Quest to work out... can't wait until something lighter weight comes out.

Also consider that your body may be in the way of the line of sight.

Can you leave an open space in the mirrored wall to accommodate the TV? Or simply mount the TV on top of the mirror?

Why not? but to test it out, you could position a mirror across from your current workout tv.

Any good glass company can cut holes for the tv mount and the necessary wiring.

no, I don't think you will like reflecting the TV in the mirror. even if you could get used to it being backwards, the reflection will very likely seem too small, or feel too far away, or be the wrong angle. I think it will just feel wrong. there are so many ways to mount that TV, or get one of those mirrors that has it embedded (like a peloton) and install it in front of the mirror wall (or tile the other mirrors around it).

you can mount the TV from the ceiling. if you can't bury the cables in the ceiling, then snake them over to the wall and then down a corner.

or mount it in front of the mirror like remodeling1840 suggested:

Thanks for all the great comments! I hadn't been active on this site for years and seemed to remember being notified in my email if anyone responded. So glad I finally logged on and checked!

We considered mounting TV on or from ceiling in front of mirror wall. My concern was that we needed a large TV given the room size and it would take up too much mirror space. But sounds like we should reconsider. Suggestions for size of TV given use (workout videos mostly) and room size of 14' x 17'? Another thought is we could shift to mirror/TV on 17' wall, though a few feet of that is lost to electrical panel. Thanks!

if you haven't even purchased a TV for this space yet, then consider a smart "workout" mirror. Peloton is one brand, but there are more affordable ones that cost about the same as a new TV. you can mount it right in front of the wall of mirrors, or set it directly in front.

or if you want a traditional TV, then maybe mounting it in the corner or off to one side will help you maximize mirror space. the TV size and placement is entirely up to you-- we don't know how big your gym is or how good your eyesight is.

I hope you didn't buy your TV yet. Apple is coming out with their headset on Monday. It will change the world like the iPhone did. You should have a workout headset not a TV.

    Told you.

The reverse reflection thing wouldn't work for me personally but you might get use to it after a while.
