Almost all of the list . Lighting plans include many different layers of lighting I think some pot lights for general lighting is fine but not as the only lighting in the room

It depends on the room. Kitchen has pendant lights, under counter lights & recessed lights. Living rooms & bedrooms may have ceiling fans with lights plus lamps & recessed lights. Entryways, breakfast room & dining room have chandeliers, & hallways have semi flush mount lights.

I voted for table lamps because there are a lot of them in my home. I think they allow much more opportunity for adding color and style to rooms. But I really do love chandeliers more. I have 3 and will add one more in my next bedroom update. And I have 2 waiting in the attic for a place to go.

I like the old fashioned lights with the square (sometimes round) glass with holes in the middle that are just a few inches from ceiling. Very inexpensive also. For dining rooms and foyers, hanging antique crystal chandeliers - for GREAT OLD houses. In "new" (1960-70 and later) houses, it does not matter as the whole house looks cheap, ugly & modern - so anything goes. Recessed lighting is for commercial offices and looks horrible in homes. Ceiling fans just blow dust around, really do not cool a room, and scares cats & dogs - no need for them.

I prefer the lamps for direct light when I'm sitting and reading or doing a puzzle.

Natural light whenever and where ever possible

I always prefer natural light if possible. Otherwise, it depends on the application. Usually it is table or floor lamps, but in the kitchen, bathroom I use ceiling fixtures.

I always use a variety of lighting. Our home came with many overhead recessed lights but we never use them except in the kitchen because there is no undercabinet lighting. The only time they are useful is when doing heavy cleaning. For everyday lighting - first maximize natural daylight. Then a variety of lighting: sconces, floor lamps, table lamps, a low-wattage light in the bedroom, accent lighting.

We have primarily recessed lighting in the home for the living room, bedrooms, baths. Our kitchen has recessed as well as under cabinet lighting. The halls have wall sconces for nighttime, solatubes that illuminate during the day. We have art lights on a few pieces on the walls, toe kick lighting in our bathrooms for after bedtime trips during the night when necessary. This is our third and final home, I think we got it just right!

I use everything on that list except for picture lights. I do always tend to gravitate towards a beautiful chandelier though.

Lighting is all about creating emotion. IMO, nothing checks this box like a good table lamp with the proper temperature bulb and shade diffusion. It is even better when you add a smart bulb where you can auto-adjust the temp throughout the day and dim in the evenings.

It depends on the space on what lighting is required.
