These Sinningias propagate easily from cuttings before the stems going to bloom. They are kind of borderline hardy in the yard, but they can be grown inside, though they stretch and are less floriferous. I would think that next time you get hold of your preferred varieties - keep a small backup plant at home just in case. Some people grow these Sinningias in large pots - you can overwinter them in the garage.

The biggest S. sellovii was grown in Florida. When the owners needed to move it - they got the tuber out, cut it with a chain saw and gave the slices to the friends. I saw one of the divisions with stems growing up to the 4 feet tall in a garden near Tampa.

Wow, that must have been a huge plant. Bananas foster did well for me here in NC. But, it has decided to not come back this year. I just found a place for the S.sellovii . I guess the best thing for me to do would be to take cuttings when I can.
