Living room smoothing in living room.

Hi everyone,

My partner and I just purchased our first home and we'll be moving-in soon. We are looking to integrate our living room to a handcrafted bar table that we really like in the home, without giving the living room a look that would be too rustic.

We'll be purchasing furniture & are also looking into a fireplace.

Any ideas?

I need to see what you are talking about with the bar table. At least post pics of your style. I do not like bar tables for actual dining but I have no idea what you are referring to. Post answers , photos all here in comments DO NOT start another post. You say not too rustic but your whole idea book is full on rustic. When 2 people blend styles IMO it takes a lot of thought good spaces do not happen overnight with a shopping spree , they evolve over time and for sure when the space is new and now new to you.

Patricia, don't you ever look at the photos? Obviously, by saying bar table they are referring to the pass through bar height counter made out of wood with a rustic/live edge, that you can see in the living room photo.

Gabriel, I think most transitional designs will work with the bar counter, as long as you aren't going in the glitzy/chrome direction.

Don't get a chaise on the sofa like the previous owners did. You don't have room for that.

Is this the only living space? Will you be watching TV here too?

Hi Chispa thank you for response and input :) i will look into the transitional design you mentioned. We have a bigger entertainment room in the basement, so it would be mostly a family room. We’ll only have a small tv there to mostly passively watch while cooking

I'd remove the applied stone the minute I held the deed in my hand. I am comfortable saying it is awful and spoiling the look of the bar you like so much because you and your partner didn't do it. You say you want a fireplace, so put the stone there. Also, not loving the wall color with the floor or the bar. Decide on the fireplace, look at some stone surrounds and choose a paint to work with it.

If you decide on bar stools, choose no backs so bar isn't hidden.

I LOVE the mood board yonder created for you! I think that will really spice up the space with not much effort needed :) best of luck!

We wanted to share a few ideas for you from some of our designs. Take a minute to notice the furniture. Specifically the stools, sofas, and fireplace ideas.
