Help with wall color please

Hello! We recently painted our living room an off white color- it used to be a greige. Now, I’m wondering if we should have went slightly darker.

I’m including the before and after pics, along with the color that I’m considering changing it to. TIA!

No don't go darker, the color is nice. I agree paint the niche the same color. Paint the ceilling the same color. I think that is an issue.

And the artwork on the fireplace is in the wrong spot...it's camoflauged.

Not sure the fireplace needs anything, it's so pretty. Bold candle holders always work..something in a light tone..nothing hanging.-you have stuff hanging in the niche.

I too would not go darker. The color you have, at least on my moniter, looks good. I like that the niche is painted a different color, but not liking the color you have there. You might consider a much darker color there.

Also, the painting you have above the fireplace is nice, but blends in too much there. A darker and more contrasting one to my eye would look much better.

@tracefloyd thank you. I wondered if the ceiling not being painted was an issue, so thank you for adding that too!

@Kelly Jones thank you for adding the examples! I will take down the artwork, or find a piece that doesn’t blend in like that.

    Thank you both!

Oh good! Painting the ceiling will be transforming...you'll see. About the niche and fireplace art ....Kelly's concepts are stunning. Wow. That's a nice brown next to the fireplace...it has a little gray iin it. I like the Blue Abstract against the browns...get that Blue one. Here's a screenshot from art.com

if you can read the titles. I searched blue abstract botanicals and stuff blue coral couldn't find it

New wall color looks so much nicer. Agree with doing ceiling same as walls. Ceiling may still look slightly darker because it’s on an opposite horizontal plane but will be much better.

It’s for sure the ceiling throwing things off. If your trim is a brighter white you can put that on the ceiling in flat, stick with the wall color in flat or you can have the wall color mixed up 10% lighter which is a trick some people like to use on their ceilings to counteract tbe horizontal plane issue the previous commenter mentioned (also in flat). I’m also not a fan of the yellow accent.
