Interested to know, just how far you have come with your remodel. Any pictures to post for us?

Oh I haven’t forgot don’t worry :)
It’s just that I haven’t really begun the “remodel” as I am still “reviving”

Nothing that is worth showing as a “finished product”.
I have so far:

Repiped the house from galvanized pipe to new copper. - Hooked up to city water. (So I finally have a toilet. So the quality of life has jumped leaps just by that alone)

Removed the old oil furnace replaced with gas. and installed air conditioning

Removed all overgrown foliage and trees overhanging the house.

Now I am working on re-wiring the house and adding soffit lighting. Once that is done I will be replacing the insulation of the ceilings and replacing the drywall.

Then the fun can begin!

Living room almost done. Just going to be refinishing the hardwood and rehabbing the wood encasement around the windows.

New garage door went in, (facia trim and window frames will be painted to match)

For those interested: spent the weekend refinishing the original cabinets. And installed the quartz countertops, sink and plumbing redone. (I am open to ideas for flooring colors to make this come together. (My appliances are white glass)

The cabinets look really good. I like the idea of light wood, but, I like the idea of terrazzo more. It fits in more with the mid century home you are creating.

Yes. I need to rebuild the soffits. There is some rot. Painting will come after.

No plan on landscaping at this time. Just going to plant grass.
Landscape will come when I can get those soffits cleaned up

I know landscaping is yet to come, but, you have done a great job. It looks clean and neat and well maintained. Its been a lot of work, and a lot more to come, but, I am sure you will enjoy it a lot when its all finished. I am missing the color in the upper front windows. That was one of my favorite things. :-)

A slate tile with grey grout.

Nice! Did you install that chandelier or was that there? Looks great!

I rewired, replumbed the whole house and replaced all fixtures. (Besides kitchen cabinets.)

Adding here is let y’all know I’m still working, updates come slower as I’m trying to enjoy life again instead of constantly work on my house! Big updates: I painted the exterior facia and overhangs after I had rebuilt a few of the overhangs that were rotting off. My nice lawn has been hammered by the heatwave here in Michigan.

Its looking good. The grass will come back. Last year, mine looked terrible, most of the summer, because, it was so dry. This year, its thick and green, and needs mowing 3 days before the mowing company is scheduled to mow. Nice to know, you have slowed down a bit, so you can enjoy life too. It will all get done eventually.

I just happened to stumble upon this thread while searching replacement ceiling ideas for my house. I recently purchased a 1955 mcm across the pond from you in WI. I love your garage door choice, do you mind sharing where you bought that? Mine desperately needs an upgrade.

Beautiful job you've done on your house so far! I also installed hardwood in mine, I went with 3.25 natural white oak. I had to rip out the original 1955 cork floors.

My door is a C.H.I, skyline flush panel (black) with oversized long frosted windows. Custom layout (I did not include a window on the bottom in fear of rocks hitting it during snowblowing/shoveling.
I went with a wall mounted drive motor instead of over head. Well worth the added cost. My garage door is SILENT when opening and closing.
